Chapter 1
I sighed, looking at myself in my mirror. My hair styled the way it usually is with a slim white beaded hairband in my hair. I was wearing a purple and white shirt and dark blue jeggings from Aeropostale. I picked up my white spiky earrings and put them on. I looked through my top left drawer to find my purple matching necklace. I looked at myself one last time and grabbed my new backpack. I went downstairs and put my bag by the door.
I went into the kitchen and grabbed my bowl. I poured some milk and then added some cereal. My brother walked in and my mom made him an omelette. I was nervous about starting grade 8. I moved last May but I still went to my old school. This year, I went to the middle school in my area. My old school was across the street from my house. This school was a 5-8 minute drive from my house. I was scared because I had no friends in my neighbourhood. There were no girls my age here. They were either my little sisters age or in college. As I finished my breakfast, I put my bowl in the sink and started packing my lunch. I grabbed my lunch bag and put it by my bag.
I sat in the family room, waiting for my dad. When he finally came, I said goodbye to my mom and brother and sister and picked up my bag and my lunch.
I got in the passenger seat of our caravan. As my dad got in and started the car, I put in a Justin Bieber CD to calm me down. My dad didn't object because he knew I was nervous. As we got to the school, my dad parked in a neighbourhood across from the school.
We walked to the back of the middle school I looked for the sheet with my teachers name. I found it and waited with my dad for a few minutes until we had to line up. I hugged my dad and lined up. I was the first one in line.
This was it.
My teacher Mrs. Leed asked "What class were you in last year."
I replied "I wasn't here last year. I went to Balmoral S.P.S."
"I've been down to that area a couple of times. Ok anyways." she said before moving to the next person.
After she had gone through the rest of the line, we went inside.
