Clearly it's a church. An old, falling down shell of a church, but it's still a church. The moon is full, the sky is hazy, and the church is really creepy. The ground outside is nothing but debris. Where there once were steps, there are now piles of rubble.

There is no rational reason to go inside that church, Matrix, I think to myself. Sure there is curiosity but what if things are broken in there? What if I step on a rusty nail or cut my hand on some broken glass? What if the damn thing just crumbles on top of me?

I need a place to stay for the night. I need a place that is going to be safe.

Matrix, you are an idiot

Matrix, you are an idiot. You should have never jumped out of that car. Who cares what Jess and Lily were doing? You don't have to do what everyone else does. You are your own person. Right now you are your own idiot, stranded, lost, alone, and talking to yourself.

The moon was almost at it's apex in the sky. The night air was already chilly, but Matrix swore she felt a blast of cool air over her shoulders. She was wearing a lace dress with a corset top for anti-prom. All of her friends decided on a gothic theme. Her curly red hair was pinned up with tendrils falling randomly down her back and neck. Throughout her hair was baby's breath, giving her a classy look, not the vampiric ones her friends were going for. She wanted classic gothic beauty. Unfortunately, the breeze moved her fallen tendrils of hair on her neck, back and shoulders and made her feel like she had fingers barely grazing her skin.

She made a run for the inside of the church. She needed to be somewhere else, anywhere else. abandoned crappy church looked like a winner. Besides, she would be able to see anything approaching from the woods from the angle she presently had her back turned to the inner collapsing wall.

Matrix... What a name. She could have killed her parents. It figured someone named Matrix would be attending an anti-prom with a bunch of outcasts in an abandoned castle.

Then things got weird. Alec, supposed to be her "date" told them he picked the location because of a magic mirror in the main hall. Supposedly this mirror would allow you to see your true self. Alec told them he was a warlock in training. He told them a lot of crap. He claimed that if you looked into the mirror and you were alive in the reflection, you would live through the night. If you were dead in the reflection, you would die before dawn.
