It's pitch-black and there's mud riding up to my ankles. I can't be sure but I think I'm in a battlefield in the middle of freaking nowhere. Abruptly, lights pop on and a stand is to my left hand side, but before I can question exactly what the hell I'm doing here; a sweet and calming male voice whispers in my head, saying: "Your darkness is my downfall but your light is my redemption. Please forgive me, my love."

A horrid scream echoes through the vast battlefield but thankfully, it's not the man. It is, however, a voice I know all too well and it chilled me to the bone. I hid behind a ginormous rock to see and hear what was inevitably going to be a battle to the death. For some strange reason though, I can't seem to care. Don't get me wrong, I desperately want to care that my only family could die by the hands of this man; the predicament is that I legitimately wouldn't care if my hair was on fire right now!

I heard grunts, panting, and high-pitched screams of bloody murder. My view was obscured by something that looked like a...portal? No, that can't be right. All I could see were two blond heads. Like an automatic off switch had been flipped, the screaming stopped and I stilled. Just seconds later, a body was literally dropped in front of me in a heap of blood, and the man that spoke to me in my head was nowhere in sight.

Finally, emotion fills me, and a shrill scream protrudes from my lips.

"Hayden!!" I screech. An annoyed voice came from the door next to mine. "What, Savannah?" She inquired harshly. "Nothing," I sighed and rubbed my head, trying to erase the image of Hayden's dead body on that battlefield, and the man's disturbing yet alluring and loving words. "You have to get up, anyway. It's time for school," I told her. She only grunted in response and replied, "Go away, bitch."

Hayden and I are sisters, but if you really look at us, you'd say we were twins. We have the same curly-blond hair, pale skin, and brown eyes.  The only contrast between us is our age; I'm nineteen and she's seventeen. Still shell-shocked from my dream, I surveyed my room: my room has a naked poster of the actor Alex Pettyfer on my purple-colored walls, above my white dresser. I hesitantly rose out of my cheetah-print bed, and grabbed a red t-shirt out of my dresser and fixed my way-too-nappy hair into a bun. Alongside that, I found some blue jeans, and then slipped them on. My mother's golden necklace lay atop my nightstand, and I put it around my neck. When I was done, I headed to the kitchen.

When I got to the kitchen, my eyes darted around for the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Cereal I want so badly. I finally found them, though when I did, they were empty. Hayden. What the hell? The bitch ate my Reese's?! Oh, she's so damn dead. Hayden and I used to be close, until our mom Patricia Faye, died in a car crash last year. The California state police still haven't found mom's car and they say it just "disappeared." A tear rolled down my cheek and I swiped at it fiercely. To distract myself from sad thoughts, I fix the table cloth. The white table cloth matches the beautiful chandelier hanging from the ceiling above my head, and I stare at it admiringly.

For the briefest of moments I wonder if my mom is listening up there. "I miss you, mom. I love you so much, please know that." This time, I let the tears fall. A horn honk snapped me out of my depressing thoughts as I yelled out, "Coming, Liv!" My best friend Olivia, personally known as "Liv" Brownan waits outside. I knock on my sister's door one last time, but I know it's futile. "Last chance, Hayden." I called. A groan was all I got, again.

I rolled my eyes, then left.

We pulled up to Crossfire College in Liv's red Chevy. Yes, I said Crossfire College- I know, weird name, right? The big brown brick building has wooden stairs built into it, and two wide chained white double-doors.  My boyfriend, Collan Rays comes strolling up to us as we get out of Liv's car. His black hair falls perfectly over his green eyes, and his full height, six-two looms over my five-three height. "Hey, babe, how are you?" He asked."I'm fine," I responded. Suddenly, he brings me down for a long, slow kiss. Woah! That was different, I mean, we've kissed before; never...like that though.

Liv stiffens beside me. "You okay?" I inquire. Her olive complexion was pale as she twirled her brown hair nervously. "Yeah," she replied. Okay. The girl I've known since kindergarten just lied to me. What the freakin' hell?! "You're sure?" I inquired again, eyeing her. "Yeah," she replies too quickly. Holy crap-balls! Why is she lying to me?

"Okay..." I trail off. Clearing my throat, I ask: "Do you wanna go inside?" They both shift uncomfortably. "Yes." Both of them reply in unison. Oh, hell!

  ***

We make it inside the building. The beautiful blue walls are abnormally streaked with a twinge of crimson. Odd, and yet, It's strangely suitable. I turn to Liv and Collan and ask; "What class do you have next?" Simultaneously, a sigh escapes their lips and they both groan. "Computers." I laugh at them, "Me too."

Suddenly, my iPhone chimes with a text, and although I don't recognize the number, I read it anyway. Eyes brown and blue, you hide the darkest part of you; we will come for you. An attachment came with the message. I click on it, and my world shatters.

My eyes can't comprehend what they're seeing: my best friend and boyfriend having sex on his couch. The date on the message says it was filmed on April 21st and that was yesterday! "Oh, my God, how could you guys?!" I scream. They look at me, confusion marring their expressions.

I fling the phone in their faces. Liv plays with her white cotton shirt nervously, while Collan's already pale complexion becomes  pasty. "We can explain-" Collan starts, but I cut him off. "Save it," I spat as I walk outside.

A variety of cars line the parking lot on this bright sunny day in Malibu, and I curse the sun for gleaming when my heart's broken. I barely make it to Liv's car before I hear her tiny footsteps pounding on the grass behind me. "Please Savannah, let me explain," she pleads. I barely make it to Liv's car before I hear her tiny footsteps pounding on the grass behind me. "Please Savannah, let me explain," she pleads.

"Please," she begs again, her voice quivering. How dare she?! I turned and slapped her face. She yelped and I said: "I never. Want. To. See. You. Again," I started walking towards her car, then promptly drove off.

If I would've known what was to come, do you think I would've said something different?
