-Present Day

Wide-eyed and open-mouthed, I stared in horror and absolute disgust not at my mother but more at myself. "I killed you? Oh crap, I think I'm going to be sick." I said as I clutched my stomach while rubbing my forehead in tormented sorrow. Alanna had taken a backseat deep in the back of our skull: hiding away. Of course I don't blame her after those revelations came out, hell; I would, too. Mom glanced up at me and her eyes were distant, lost in memories of a long-ago life. "Have you ever heard of the love-or-die prophecy? This is one of many reasons I'm trapped in here for another one-hundred years," she bites out as she avoids that uncomfortable subject of dying altogether. Shaking my head back and forth, she sighs like my ignorance is an inconvenience to her. "The prophecy states that a girl born of darkness but also light will have two soulmates; once again, both are like night and day. Whoever she-meaning you-chooses will determine whether you are darkness or light. It will also confirm if you are going into battle with Alexander or not, whoever it is you choose will either love you or destroy you. I know Alanna has been told different over these past years, but she is quite wrong." She smiles lovingly at me, however Alanna growls frustratingly in my head.

Mom seem to tilt her head to peer up at Alanna. "There's no need for you to get testy, love. It's just a minor miscommunication on your part," mom waves her left hand in the air like Alanna forgot to email the invitations for a party. I could literally feel Alanna's eyebrows rise as if to ask: "You can hear me?" To which mom beamed and said, "Yes, honey, I can hear you. It's cool, right?" She asked. "Cool? Try immensely disturbing," Alanna said and I busted out laughing. Suddenly we heard an explosion followed by outraged screaming, while someone yelled: "Where is she? I know she's here, Alexander! Now come on, spill it before I lose my temper," [Jakob?] said as Alexander choked out, "No way in hell," he chuckled. Jake threw Alexander through a basement wall, damaging it even further but I guess that didn't matter now. Peering inside the basement with help from a gaping hole he created, his smile was heavenly. "Hey sweetheart, long time no see." He says, his eyes shining in glee. Jake's face was severely burned; a long scar edged across his face, but weirdly that tiny factor only added to his hotness. For a few seconds I just stare at him, our gazes locked and so many unspoken words between us. Running to me without a look back, he untied my hands; setting them free. Jumping into his arms was like coming home after a period of time had passed, warm and loving so much that I didn't care who was in the room.

I kissed him and we were a flame dancing to its own beat, tingles zip up my spine while the-all-too-familiar zing found home. Moaning when his fingers tangled in my hair, I barely noticed when mom asked: "Um, guys? Could you maybe finish your little make-out session later? I would like you to be as far away from here as possible before he wakes up," she said it with a condescending eye roll, though I could see the smile behind it. Turning away sheepishly, my face became red but the smile on my face never gave way. "Go," she said, her eyes darting toward the door."Now!"

We scrambled out of the room, but not before Alexander grabbed my ankle. Alarms sounded and creatures surrounded us from all corners, no faces and no arms; save the holes that would've been considered arms if they weren't so damn ugly. The creatures snarled, hissed, and reached for me all at once; their hands touched my face and it was slimy with a mixture of coldness. When Jake stepped into help me and they came at him, my power exploded in the most amazing ray of blue and red, creating a beautiful violet. It swirled like tornadoes in the wind, at speeds that I couldn't even understand. "Get back, demon," Jake spat like he was growling, eliciting a snarl from the demon closest to him. His eyes turned gold and the front of Jake's hands were maintaining some sort of green energy that shook the ground. I stagger back in shock...and a little bit of fear, but as my fright evaporated into ash, the demons dove for Jake and bit his neck. And then he screamed like it was nobody's business.
