Chapter 31

       

Gilbert sighs as he sips at a beer. Arthur was out visiting his family. Mathias and Gilbert had turned up, both of them needed alpha time apparently. Alfred sighs and rubs his face.

"Please tell me again why are you in my house drinking my beer?" Alfred grumbles.

"Elizaveta is going mad. I need a break from Frederick; Tulipa is with Adriano and Liz is with Roddy. I think I'll explode if I hear another baby cry." Gilbert chugs the rest of his beer. He goes to grab for another but Alfred smacks his hand. Gilbert instantly turns on Alfred and Alfred is tackled to the floor. The much sober alpha pins the albino.

"Calm down Gil." Alfred says as he keeps Gilbert pinned until he finally calms down. Alfred slowly gets off of Gilbert and helps the male up. Gilbert goes and sits back down on the couch. "Now it is your turn Mathias." Alfred looks over at the Danish male.

"Lukas is going mental. He keeps blaming Emil moving out on me. He says stuff like 'you have always been useless' or 'I can't believe you helped him move out, he is too young' or he just insults me in Norwegian or Danish; whichever he prefers on that specific day. For a while there he even stopped talking English; he slipped back into Danish. If he is really mad he starts speaking Norwegian; I can understand it but I'm a bit rusty with it, I can easily understand Danish but when he goes full on Norwegian I don't always know what he's saying. It's a horrible feeling to know that you are being called an idiot and a loser and a useless alpha in a different language." Mathias takes a little sip of his beer. He obviously wanted to go home sober and not annoy his omega further.

"Do you think it's because he's getting older? I mean at the age of 36 I'm amazed he's still having heats." Alfred says.

"He's missed two heats and judging by the fact that his stomach is still as flat as ever; he isn't pregnant. I think he doesn't want to admit the fact that his time has run out. He's not fertile anymore." Mathias says.

"That makes sense. Most omegas start having mental breakdowns when they first find out they are infertile. Lukas got to be fertile for around 24 years, that's close to the world record of 34 years. It's hard for everything to just stop after you've spent 24 years dealing with the problems that come with omegas being fertile. I feel sorry for him, I think you should just show him how much you still love him and that it doesn't bother you that he can't give you children. You of all people should know that omegas always feel completed when they're giving their alphas children or at least giving their alpha a chance to impregnate them, he probably thinks that now he can't produce children he is of no use to you. It's just instinct and you should just help him through it." Alfred gives him a warm smile. Mathias looks up at him and nods.

"How are you so good with omegas?" Gilbert questions.

"I'm not good with them I just understand them and their instinctual thoughts. While in university I studied the instincts of alphas and omegas. It has really helped me understand the instincts of it all." Alfred grins. Mathias and Gilbert nod in unison.

"Man I should've looked into learning more about that sort of stuff. They didn't teach us much back when I went to school in Denmark, we just got taught the real basic stuff." Mathias says.

"What was it like back when you were younger? I mean things have drastically changed in 20 years." Gilbert says.

"Well 20 years ago it was still common for arranged marriages to happen. Lukas and I were put in an arranged marriage together." The other two alphas let out a gasp. "Yeah I know, that's why we ended up together. I remember having just finished school and having to go with my parents to retrieve him from the airport. He knew Danish because he was always going to end up in Denmark. Lukas never got an actual education; he just got taught by his parents. All they taught him was Danish, Norwegian and that he was an omega. He could speak Norwegian and Danish very well. Of course I quickly picked up that his alpha parent obviously beat into him that he was an omega. Lukas never talked back or raised his voice or disobeyed back then; dude he didn't even think for himself. Everything he said and did revolved around me. When he went into heat – only weeks after arriving – I mated with him. I earned lots of money over a number of years, Emil was born and when Emil was three I had saved up enough money to move here. Slowly I taught Lukas to just be himself and luckily by the time Emil was ten, Lukas was his own person." Mathias smiles softly.

"I never knew that." Gilbert says.

"Do you miss the old him?" Alfred asks.

"To tell you the truth; sometimes I do. When Lukas gets out of hand, like now, I miss when I could just look at him and he'd be quiet. Yet I look at all the times that Lukas was able to support Emil and me when I lost my job. I think that although I do miss the old submissive Lukas; I love the real Lukas more." Mathias smiles.

"Well I never knew that you and Lukas were forced together. Have you two ever actually loved each other?" Gilbert questions.

"Yes actually, at first sight I was in love. Lukas didn't fall in love with me until we moved here. He noticed that I wasn't like his alpha parent or my father. He slowly opened up to me and even started teaching me Norwegian, so Emil and I learnt Norwegian at the same time. I also was teaching Emil and Lukas English; Lukas never knew English so when we came here he couldn't speak to anyone. After he learnt English he quickly got a job as a cleaner and he changed jobs about once a year until he Berwald and I opened up an Ikea here. Lukas now works as a cleaner there, along with Emil and Tino and Lars." Mathias says. Gilbert and Alfred nodded and gave him a warm smile.

"So you don't know much about his childhood?" Alfred asks.

"Yeah, he told me that he could never talk too much about his childhood. It hurt him to even think about it. Of course he mentions some of the fun things he remembers however I know next to nothing about his family. I only know that he had an alpha parent and a beta parent. That's why he could be treated so badly and there was no omega that interfered." Mathias says.
