"This is not because you made some mistake. This is about me, about who I am!"
Coley yelled, because she couldn't believe her own father was the one who responded like this. The man who raised her on his own. The man who always said he was so open-minded. The man she loved most in this entire world.
"This is not who you are. This is a phase and this is staying between these four walls. Your brother won't be able to handle this. He won't love you if he finds out about this."
Her fathers words caused tears to form in the corners of her eyes. She couldn't believe this was real. She just wanted to go to sleep and never wake up.
"Imagine what people will say." Her dad sighed and raised his hand, which made its way through his hair. His posture was showing pure desperation.
"Dad, I −" She swallowed loudly, to make her tears go away and she looked at the man in front of her. He would give his life, to make sure she would have a good one. If this was his response, she needed to take it seriously and rethink what she was feeling.
"I won't tell anyone. I won't act on it." She promised him, still tears in her eyes.
