It had been a few days since Trenton told Coley what was going on with him lately. Coley tried to keep her distance from Sonya, but not seeing her or talking to her at all was impossible. She was incredibly kind and without her, Coley still wouldn't have known all the things she came to know about her brother.

Coley made sure she was never alone with Sonya, but whenever they had to interact, she made sure to be as nice as she could to the girl.

Today had been a short day at school for Coley and Hayley, so they decided to go to a coffee shop afterwards.

Standing in line Hayley scanned Coley's face, and she could feel the blonde's eyes going over her.

"Spit it out." Coley told her, looking at her with a side-glance.

"You're not telling me something." Hayley concluded out loud.

Coley wasn't telling her multiple things. She never had secrets for the blonde. Even when Coley found out she was gay, Hayley was the first person she told.

But the things that were going on in her life right now... She couldn't tell the blonde about those things. She couldn't share a secret that wasn't hers, but Trenton's. And she certainly couldn't tell her, her own secret.

The line got shorter, and they got closer to the counter, so Coley hoped Hayley would just drop it, as Coley wasn't going to respond to it anyway.

"I'll find out, you know." She warned Coley. Coley just rolled her eyes with a soft sigh.

"What can I get you guys?"

The voice of the barista was way too familiar and Coley instantly knew whose voice it was.

Her mouth got dry and she licked her lips slowly. Fuck.

"Hey Sonya!" Hayley enthusiastically interrupted the short awkward silence.

Sonya's eyes were pinned on Coley's and Coley couldn't get herself to look away.

Hayley's eyes went from Sonya to Coley and back.

"Okay... I would just like a simple black coffee. You wanted a hot chocolate, right?" She had to nudge Coley, to get her back on this planet.

Coley blinked a few times and slowly started to nod. "Yes, uh.. Yes, please." Coley managed to breathe out huskily, before softly clearing her throat.

Hayley paid for their drinks, still a bit confused as to what was actually happening.

"Coming right up!" It seemed like Sonya had also found her way back to this planet as she got back to work and started making their chosen drinks.

Coley was still in shock, not expecting to meet the girl here.

Sonya put their drinks on the counter and grazed Coley's hand as she took the drink from her. It made Coley almost drop the cup, as a shock of electricity went through her entire body at the touch.

"Can we talk, privately?" Sonya asked Coley. Coley's eyes got big as she swallowed down the lump in her throat and glanced over at Hayley, asking for some sort of permission.

She slowly looked back at the gorgeous barista and nodded, before following her into the back.

Once the door behind them closed and it was just the two of them, Coley crossed her arms and made sure there was at least three feet of distance between them at all times.

"I just wasn't sure if I'd ever be able to speak to you, one on one and then you walked in here and I was sure it had to be now or it would be never and I just really wanted to get some things of my chest, cause I feel like..." The girl started rambling and Coley softly chuckled.

"Breathe, please." She told her, with a smile on her face and the hint of a grin in her voice, looking up at the slightly taller girl in front of her.

"I feel like you've been distant lately, shutting me out. I mean, I know we aren't friends or anything like that, but I felt like we were getting there... until, we were not." The girl finished, still in a rambling tone.

Coley raised an eyebrow, looking at the girl with a confused look. She was really smart, catching on to the fact that Coley was doing that, even though she tried to do it so subtly.

"I guess..." Coley started and bit her lip softly when she caught the girl's eyes. "I may have been doing that, a little bit." She admitted, which made Sonya's face drop. It was clear that she didn't understand why Coley would do that.

"I really like your brother and I want his sister to not feel like running away whenever I come over. I don't want you to not want to be near me."

But the problem was that Coley did want to be near her. Way too much for that matter.

Coley pursed her lips, thinking of a way to respond to her, while the girl reached her hand over and put it on Coley's forearm. Coley jumped a little at the touch and took a step back.

"Y-you're right." She stuttered and turned around. "I'll try."

"Coley, wait!" She heard, but kept walking headstrong.

She felt like she couldn't breathe and had to get out of there. She walked out and grabbed her drink from the table Hayley chose. "Can we go?"

Hayley slowly started shaking her head. "You're gonna tell me what the hell has been going on with you." Her voice sounded determined and Coley didn't feel like she was going to get out of this one, not easily at least.

Reluctantly Coley slid in the seat across from Hayley.

"You used to tell me anything and everything. I'm worried about you." Hayley told her. Coley could hear she was being genuine.

"There's no need to worry about me..." Coley started. "It's Trenton." She eventually sighed.

Coley caught a glimpse of Sonya, who came walking out the back just now.

The girl looked at her with a sad smile, that made Coley's heart ache.

"What about Trent?" Hayley asked.

Coley shook her head. "It's really not my story to tell."

Hayley nodded, understanding. "Is there more going on, about you?" Hayley asked, somewhat suspiciously.

Coley touched her forehead, thinking. "There is... This girl." She saw that Hayley's eyes started to shine mischievously. "But that could never happen. It's... She doesn't feel the same way and even if she did I could never do that to..." Coley swallowed loudly, looking away from Hayley for a second. Trenton. "My dad." She finished.

"And what's this mysterious girl's name?" Hayley pushed.

"Oh, you don't know her." Coley brushed off and glanced over to the counter, finding Sonya already looking her way.

Hayley raised an eyebrow. "Well, what's her name? You must have a..." Hayley's words started coming out of her mouth slower with every word. She followed Coley's gaze and turned back to her. "If it's-"

"Of course not!" Coley interrupted. "At first you want me to be okay with her and now you're acting like this?" Coley snapped, overblown.

Coley hid her face in her hands and let out a loud sigh. "I'm sorry. I've been really stressed."

"I've noticed." Hayley spoke softly. "And it's okay, just... Don't shut me out, please?" She put her hand over Coley's, which earned the girl a soft smile.

"We should talk about all this..." She waved her hands towards herself, mainly towards her heart, indicating that she was talking about her feelings. "In a more private setting. Are you coming over, before my dad gets back?"

Hayley nodded and got up from her seat, to give Coley a tight hug.
