When Coley woke up, last night started flooding back into her memory. It hadn't been a dream. Sonya was real and she was really her brothers girlfriend. Coley looked next to her and saw that Hayley was still fast asleep. She got up as silent as possible, even though she knew Hayley usually slept through anything. You could throw a bomb right next to her and Hayley would still snore through it, softly and content.

Once she got to the kitchen, she made a pot of coffee and poured herself a cup. She looked over when she saw movement in the corner of her eye and held in a sigh when she saw her brother on the porch. She decided to be the good little sister and bring him a cup of coffee as well.

She cleared her throat, while stepping onto the porch and smiled when her brother noticed her. "Just what I needed." He took the coffee cup from his sisters hands and took a tiny sip right away. "Didn't Sonya stay the night?"

He looked up at her, over the sunglasses that covered his eyes. "Thought you didn't like her."

Coley's eyebrow quirked as soon as she heard the words leaving her brothers mouth. "Since when does that stop you?" She decided to go with. It wasn't that she didn't like the girl. She just didn't know her that well and hadn't decided yet.

"Since dad isn't here to stop me." Her brother winked at her and pressed out his cigarette in the ashtray, before going back inside. Coley stayed put, while slowly finishing her coffee, still hot. She was a little shocked to hear those words coming from Trenton. It sounded like he did care about her. Something her father always used to tell her, but since her brother never showed her that he cared about her in the slightest, she never believed him.

She released a sigh she didn't know she was holding and looked up at the sun while pursing her lips. She startled when someone cleared their throat behind her and turned around in one quick movement. "Hayley!" Coley held her heart, like it was going to slow the beating she felt in her throat. "You scared the shit out of me."

"Why are you acting like you just got caught doing something you shouldn't have been doing?"

Coley shook her head. "I was just thinking."

"About something you shouldn't be thinking about?"

Hayley was always the voice of the angel, but also the voice of the devil on your shoulder. Debating if something was good or bad.

"No, just lost in thoughts." Her voice softly giving away, that she didn't want to reveal more about it yet. She was confused with her feelings, had been for over a year and Hayley knew this. That was probably also the reason she dropped it after that. Coley trusted her and Hayley knew that, knew that Coley would tell her all her thoughts as soon as she was ready to talk about it with anybody.

"Let's get you something to eat." Hayley decided.

Coley walked towards their kitchen island, where Trenton was already sitting, while he was staring at the tv that he could see from there. Coley cleared her throat and took a seat next to him. She studied him for a few seconds, before she decided to ask him a question, she actually wanted to ask outside already. She turned her head to face the tv, so she wasn't looking at her brother anymore. "Do you love Sonya?" Her voice was soft, but it wasn't a whisper.

In the corners of her eyes, Coley could see that her brother was now looking at her. She couldn't make out what his face was displaying. Doubt? Doubt suddenly made place for a smile, maybe even a grimace. His eyes started sparkling and he seemed... proud?

"Yeah." He then answered. Normally not a convincing answer, but the way he said it. The way his face had shown his entire thought process, like he himself had just realized this fact, when his sister asked him about it.

"Then I'll try." She put her hand on her brother's for a second and found his gaze again. "I'll try to like her... To get to know her." She smiled at him softly and saw in his eyes that he appreciated it. That was enough.

"Breakfast is ready!" Hayley's voice made Coley grimace and she looked behind her to find Hayley's eyes. Coley assumed breakfast had been ready for a moment already, but Hayley gave them some space. Hayley was really the best friend a girl could wish for.

"We should totally throw a house party before dad gets back." Trenton's mouth was still full with the last bits of breakfast and Coley started shaking her head, before Hayley could respond.

"We totally shouldn't." Coley's face turned into a half-frown, while she pursed her lips.

"Buzzkill."

"Hayley! You should be on my side with this." Coley sighed and rolled her eyes at her brother and Hayley high-fiving each other. "I already know how that's gonna go. You're all going to enjoy yourselves and I'm gonna be running around like a fool, picking up trash behind everyone's asses."

"No, you should also be enjoying yourself and we should worry about all the garbage in the morning." Coley just looked at Hayley with a hint of disbelief on her face. "Or in the afternoon." She corrected herself, which indeed made it much more believable.

Hayley and her brother were now both looking at her with puppy-eyes and Coley closed her eyes for a second in return. Grins started to form on their face, they knew Coley was going to budge and she knew it too. "Fine." She sighed. Instantly regretting her decision, this wasn't gonna go well, she could feel it. "But I'm inviting some of my friends too." Her brother had got his phone out, to invite his friends already. "And no drugs!" She yelled, while her brother got up and walked toward his room, without responding to another word she said.

Coley also got up, only to walk herself to the couch and drop herself there, with a loud sigh. She felt Hayley, who joined her on the couch and looked up at her for a second. "You know this isn't gonna go well, right?" She asked her friend, who just smirked at her widely.

"So, like, can I bring a girl as my date or is Trent not gonna be able to handle that?" Hayley's eyes were shining mischievous, as the words left her mouth.

Coley bit her lip and looked behind her to make sure Trenton really still was in his room. "Shut up, please. No, you can't, okay? You really can't do that."

Hayley shook her head and smiled a Coley with a soft look now. "I'm just teasing you, ok? Easy, tiger." She put her arm around Coley's shoulder and Coley instantly relaxed a little more into her best friend's touch.

For a few long seconds, Coley's mind went to the girl from last night again. Sonya. She'll probably be at the party too and Coley wasn't sure if she liked that or not. She secretly did and that was why she hated it.
