Coley was shamelessly staring at Sonya, the entire ride so far. They were silent, as they always seemed to be in this car at first. Sonya didn't look at her or even acknowledged the fact that Coley was looking at her, but she knew, she felt Coley's eyes on her. Coley knew that much.
Coley really wanted to reach over and touch Sonya, but somehow she knew that she would be content, just staring at Sonya, even it had to be the rest of her life.
"Are you mad at me?" Coley whispered and earned a chuckle from Sonya.
"Of course not, why would you think that?" For the first time this ride, Sonya looked at Coley and Coley smiled at her shyly.
She shrugged her shoulders, afraid to mention the encounter and clueless to what to call it.
It was probably just Coley reading into things too much, again.
"We're here, but if there's something you want to talk about first that's okay too." Sonya whispered, while stopping the car in front of the house, where the party was already going on.
Coley looked at the big house. It was even bigger than hers, and they could already hear the music blasting.
"I think I'm good, for now." Coley decided and stepped out of the car.
She waited for Sonya, before she entered the house with her and Coley started walking through the crowded house. In no time she had a drink in hand and took a sip. It was stronger than the wine she'd been drinking at Sonya's and a lot sweeter, but she couldn't quite put her finger on what it was.
Sonya. Where the hell was Sonya? They had been inside for only fifteen minutes, and she already lost her friend. Since Coley was still feeling the buzz of the alcohol she already consumed, she didn't really mind being alone and kept taking sips from the drink in her hand.
She'd already seen some people she recognized from school, so she'd get around.
"Coley?" She suddenly heard behind her and closed her eyes tightly, when she recognized the voice. Please don't be... Coley turned around and looked right in Brett's face.
She saw the big smile he was wearing and just started shaking her head no. "Nope." She just said to him and tried to make her way through the crowded place, to get away from him.
Coley eventually made her way to the backyard, where it was also crowded, but way less than inside the house. She finished her drink and found her place on a deck chair that wasn't occupied yet.
She was looking down and saw some feet stop right in front of her. "Brett, I told you no−" She looked up at Sonya, which instantly caused her frowned face to turn into a happy smile. "Sorry, I thought you were someone else." She admitted.
"I got that." Sonya took a seat next to her, on the same deck chair and went with a hand through her hair.
"Where were you?"
"I lost you, so I said hi to someone friends and then I tried to find you again." Sonya told her softly, while putting her hand on Coley's thigh. "And here we are."
Coley couldn't ignore the fact that Sonya's touch caused her to feel electricity race through her body, and she felt heat go down to her core, but... "Have you been drinking?" Coley asked her, she didn't make an effort to pull her hand away and Coley didn't have the heart to remove it either.
Sonya made a hand gesture, with her thumb and index finger, to tell Coley that she just had a little bit to drink.
Coley felt as if she was sober instantly and got up from the chair, looking down at Sonya. "Why?" She asked her, Coley didn't realize there were tears forming in her eyes.
Sonya kept looking at her with those innocent eyes and just shrugged her shoulders. "Because I felt like it? Because I'm an adult and you can't−"
Coley cut her off by yanking her up from the chair and pulled her with her by her forearm.
"Oh, where are you taking me?" Sonya giggled and walked with Coley willingly. Luckily so, because Coley wasn't about to make a scene.
Coley took Sonya up to the bathroom to make her sit on the floor and drink some water. "Oh, are we taking a shower? I'm in the mood for a shower."
Coley ignored her and scrolled through her contacts in her phone. She couldn't get Sonya home. Sonya couldn't drive, she was completely out of it and even though Coley felt sober, she'd had too much to drink to drive a car.
Brett was here, but he didn't strike Coley as the clear-headed type, not even when he was sober.
Hayley was out on her date with Rowan and Coley really didn't want to bother her, but it seemed to be the best option right now.
She couldn't burden Trenton with this right now. He had enough going on already. Besides, him and Sonya just made up, whatever was going on between them.
"Two years sober and you choose your night out with me to fall of the wagon." Coley muttered under her breath.
She groaned and despite her better judgement, she decided to call Hayley.
"Hayls?" She asked when the ringing stopped, and she heard some rumbling sounds.
"It's Rowan."
"Oh... Where's Hayley?" Coley asked, a bit flustered.
"In the bathroom. Can I help you or do you want to wait for her?"
"Well..." Coley started. Rowan was the one with a driver's license and a car, not Hayley. "I actually need someone to come pick me and my... Sonya up." She stammered.
It stayed silent a few moments at the other end of the line, until Coley heard Hayley's voice whisper somethings.
"Why can't Sonya drive you?" Hayley suddenly asked into the phone.
"She slipped up... I don't know why. She's been sober for two years, Hayley. Two fucking years, I don't get−"
"Send me the address." Hayley obliged her.
Coley obeyed willingly and when Hayley told her she was on her way, they ended the call.

It'd been a bit of a struggle to get Sonya downstairs, but she cooperated as much as she could. She even tried to assist sometimes, but it went better when she didn't.
Coley was relieved when she saw Rowan's car drive up the driveway and put Sonya's arm around her own shoulders again, holding her tight, while walking her towards the car.
Hayley opened the door to the backseat for her, so she could put Sonya in.
Coley hugged Hayley tightly and buried her face in her neck, trying to fight back her tears.
"I don't know what happened. I only lost her out of my sight for fifteen minutes, and I was a little tipsy, but I−"
"None of this is your fault." Hayley reassured her, but Coley couldn't help to think that everything about this was her fault.
When all four of them were in the car, Rowan asked her where to drop them off. Coley decided to give them Sonya's address, which earned her a raised eyebrow from Hayley.
"Trenton can't see her like this." Coley explained.
