─── THE EXCITEMENT AFTER THE TRIP to Diagon Alley didn't last forever as Alice found herself back in the home of Mrs Synergy. She was certainly looking forward to hopefully seeing the twins again as she hoped to make good friends with them, as the remaining days in the household had been dreadfully boring for her. Mrs Synergy was simply making sure that Alice had everything she would need and making sure that Alice was prepared, however, it was nothing that interested the child. Instead, she would spend her time outside in the gardens with her rabbit or up in her room.
Such as the evening before she was to leave for Hogwarts, Alice was lying on her bed with the White Rabbit resting on her stomach. She gently stroked the top of his head, desperately wishing internally that he would say something to her, even if it was just all nonsense. She had become so used to nonsense that what others considered to be normal frightened her a bit. There was the fear of how well she was going to fit in at the school and she really didn't have the guidance she craved from her family.
Mrs Synergy attempted to reassure her with her own stories of her times at Hogwarts, but it had been quite some time since the woman had attended that Alice couldn't help but wonder if things had changed quite a bit since her attendance. But then again, Alice could remember listening to all the stories that she forced out of Margaret back when they were young and her older sister was first attending.
It was the only stories Margaret told that Alice had bothered listening to and with that thought in mind, it only made her feel terribly guilty on the side.
"Mr Rabbit," Alice spoke up at one point, " do you remember when I asked you how long is forever? Do you remember what you told me?"
She lifted her head up a little to peer down at him, while he was quiet, his eyes spoke a different story as they locked with hers. Of course, he remembered, it was foolish for her to think otherwise even under the conditions they were facing. It brought a small smile to her face before she continued on.
"You told me, sometimes, just one second," she said, "and now I understand what you meant by that. While I was gone for what felt like a short time in Wonderland, forever has gone by here. I'm afraid if we went back to Wonderland, who knows how long time would pass here again. How different this world would be if we returned after some time."
She flopped back onto her pillow staring up at the ceiling.
"It's funny how Wonderland had been considered an abnormal world to me when I first arrived chasing after you, but the world I actually come from is the one I don't understand now."
As Mr Rabbit remained quiet, Alice let out a heavy sigh before wrapping her arms around him and closing her eyes to hopefully fall asleep soon because, in her dreams, she could return home.
Drifting off, she could hear the faint sound of music and the whistling of tea kettles welcoming her return as she was running late for the tea party hosted by the Mad Hatter and the March Hare. The whimsical colours of Wonderland opened up as she finally entered her full dream state and there was her family, running around the long table, laughing and smiling. It didn't take her long to run towards the scene, ready to join in on the fun.
