─── WHEN ALICE ARRIVED for her first Potions class of the year, she was instantly intrigued by the man dressed all in black that did not greet her as she walked through the door. In fact, he did not greet anyone that came into the classroom. There seemed to be a bitter and judgemental air about Professor Severus Snape that was noticed to all as they all hurried into the dungeon classroom. Alice was just thankful that she was in the company of her friends, including Fred, George, and Lee as Ravenclaw and Gryffindor were paired for the time slot.
"Professor Snape," George whispered to Alice as he took the seat next to her as Lennon settled next to Lee, " I'd watch him if I were you, Alice. From what Bill, Charlie, and even Percy told us, he is not what one would consider friendly, but quite the opposite. Bill said he bathes in the blood of newborns and drinks animal blood in his office."
Alice wasn't sure if there was an appropriate response to such a thing, but luckily, it was Lee who interjected. " You would think we had spat in his great nana's mouth with the way he looked at us when we walked in here."
"Charlie said that he has a thing against the Gryffindor house more so than any other, " Fred groaned as he dropped his chin into his hand. "Just our luck."
"Oh well, I feel sorry for you three," Alice said as she patted George and Fred on the shoulder, " good luck to you, but maybe I'll stand a better chance as a Ravenclaw."
"Leaving us to fend for ourselves?!" George gasped. "You traitor!"
"Trust me," Alice interjected, " I've managed to develop plenty of enemies over the time, I don't think I want to add any more to my list. Especially one that bathes in blood, I've gotten enough of the bloodthirsty ones."
The boys had absolutely no idea what she was talking about, but it seemed Alice was not going to offer any additional insight to it as she was distracted by Mr Rabbit slipping into the classroom and coming to rest at her feet. He had been missing since the late morning and she had no idea where he had ventured off to as he didn't inform her where he was going. She leaned over in her chair to get closer to his level to whisper.
"There you are," she began, " where have you been?"
"Sometimes a rabbit has to care of business alone, Alice," he whispered in response, " I certainly didn't need an audience during that time. You wouldn't want people staring at you while you were in the loo, right?"
"Ah right, I can respect that."
Suddenly, the door to the classroom closed with a rather loud noise, making Alice shiver from the cold draft of air that followed. Her eyes trailed over to Professor Snape as he made his way to the front of the class. His robes swooped behind him, reminding her of a bat of some sort, and while the fluttery motion of the dark, bat-like wings, it was the coldness of his voice that alerted her to quickly pay attention.
"If someone of you, are waiting for the invitation to pull out your Potions book, now would be the time."
Peering down at Mr Rabbit again, Alice could see that he wore the same expression as she did. They both had recognised Professor Snape's voice but it had originally belonged to someone else and that certain someone was somewhere back in Wonderland. The voice eerily sounded exactly like Caterpillar's, the hookah-smoking insect that spoke in his own form of riddles.
