─── ALICE FLED TO HER ROOM as fast as her legs could carry her to escape any sort of excuse or reasoning that Mrs Synergy came up with; she simply did not want to hear it. It seemed every time there was something or someone that brought her joy in some form, it was to be questioned and threatened to be taken away from her. She was too young or too naive to see the same dangers that Mrs Synergy saw as her guardian and nothing was done out of malice, but to keep Alice safe. Alice had returned to very different times in the wizarding world and if she wasn't careful, she could easily give off the wrong impression to many and the same went for the Wonderland creatures as well.

However, after Alice left her, Mrs Synergy remained alone for a moment, a heavy sigh passing through her lips slowly. She had been trying over the last few months to keep Alice comfortable but it wasn't the easiest task placed on the woman's shoulders. Alice had all these ideas of how the world should work, especially when she compared it to Wonderland. Unfortunately, it just wasn't how the wizarding world worked at the time. Mrs Synergy did not live to make the child miserable, but she was stuck in between following the rules stated and pleasing the closest person she ever had to her own child.

In the wake of Alice heading to her room, Mrs Synergy did not send the owl to the Ministry as she originally planned. Alice had begged her multiple times not to get Hatter in trouble and after the door slammed upstairs, Mrs Synergy couldn't bring herself to do so. Instead, she felt like she had become the public enemy within the household and rather than returning to the judgemental stares cast in her direction from the Wonderland creatures,  she made her way to the sitting room and plopped down in one of the chairs to think for a moment.

But there was usually never a moment's peace, even if she begged for it. Seconds later, she heard stirring from the kitchen until Hatter appeared, poking his head out from the doorway. He glanced around the room before spotting her.

"Is tea time over?" he asked, his eyebrows knitting together tightly in worry that it was true. Mrs Synergy peered up at him and nodded her head.

"I'm afraid so."

Upstairs, Alice cried into her pillow as she hugged it close to her chest. She wasn't just furious with Mrs Synergy but the entire situation itself. There was a knock at the door and she quickly assumed that it was Mrs Synergy trying to come to speak with her. But Alice wanted nothing to do with her at the moment, believing her guardian was so set on making things difficult and miserable for her. Alice had been so incredibly happy to see Hatter initially, but currently, she was terrified to think of what the Ministry would do to him.

They were already far too curious about Cheshire and Mr Rabbit, she was sure that they would eventually arrive on the doorstep of the home and take the Wonderland creatures away permanently.  And if they did, they would just be taking a part of Alice with them and she would never feel whole again.
