Tyler's POV//
Leave me alone.
You're pathetic. You can't get rid of me. And don't think you can get rid of Jason's memories either.
Stop! Jason was a horrible person, I never want to hear his name again!
Oh come on. You miss Jason's idle touches.. The way he forced himself into you when you tried to run. The way he-
I woke up in cold sweats, screaming loudly.
"Tyler! Tyler! It's alright, I'm here. It was just a dream."
But it wasn't. It was my mind. It was reality.
"Josh.." He pulls me into a tight embrace. I cried into his shoulder. I let everything out. I don't tell him a word. I just cry.
"You guys okay..?" Dallon sheepishly entered the room.
Josh motioned him to leave, anger filled Josh's eyes.
He didn't want an interruption.
Dallon scurried downstairs. I clung to Josh for what seemed like hours. I flicked my eyes toward the clock, then to Josh.
It was 4 P.M. And he was holding me until I was okay. I smile against his chest.
He's so sweet.. I don't deserve him.
"Kitten.. Are you.. Okay? Do you need anything?" Josh spoke quietly. I shake my head.
"I'm fine.."
He presses his lips to my head. The corners of my lips tug upwards.
My phone buzzes in my pocket.
I frown.
No one texts me.. only Josh does. I pull it out of my pocket and open the message.
Dad: Get your ass home now. You've been gone too long and your mother is worried. You need to make 100 baskets this time or no dinner for the rest of the week.
I bite my lip and pull away from Josh.
"I gotta.. Get going.." I stand up, pulling a shirt over my head. I slip on some black jeans afterwards. Josh sat silent before pulling me into his lap.
"If you need me.. Please don't hesitate to call. Am I still picking you up for school on Monday?"
He kissed my lips before speaking.
I pull away nervously,
"Yeah.. And I don't know.." I stand up taking a few steps back."At least let me take you home ty."
"I'm fine."
"Tyler please it's pouring do-"
"I can walk!" I snap, avoiding eye contact with Dallon as I run downstairs and out the front door.
Rain hits my face, swirling down my neck and body as I start my walk home.
--
I arrive at my home around 6, completely exhausted. I got turned around and had to keep walking until I eventually found my neighborhood.
I walk inside, drenched in rain. My shoes squished and made sloshing noises as I pattered down the hallway. I open my door and release a large sigh.
"I'm back.." I mumble, before attempting to change clothing. I pulled on my last article of clothing just as my door started to creak open.
"Tyler!" An excited voice beamed. I glance upward to see my mother. She had bags under eyes, she looked stressed.
I pull her into a hug, sniffling softly at the smell of her sweet perfume that used to fill the room along with her bright smiles and laughter. Ever since Zack moved out.. I never got to see those moment again.
"I missed ya mom.." I spoke, my voice was tight and strained. She pulled away and kisses my cheek.
"I've missed you too honey... Now I'm starting dinner soon so you better start your baskets.." She whispered the last part, as if feeling guilty for saying so. I was about to object, hearing the rain beat down against the windows of my room, but I remembered my fathers proud tone when he heard I was starting basketball again, and I knew I had to do it.
I nod and sit down on my bed, pulling out my phone to check the time. She turned and left without another word.
8 messages and 3 missed calls from Josh :^)
I open my texts, eventually finding mine and Josh's. I looked at the new texts.
Josh :^) : Sorry for not being able to help.. I promise I'm still here if you need me
Josh :^) : Are you almost home? If not I can still pick you up.
Josh :^) : Did you make it home safe?
Josh :^) : You left your hoodie here, I'll bring it to you when I pick you up tomorrow for school.
Josh :^) : I'm sorry for calling you so many times., I'm just worried , ya know? :^(
Josh :^) : My mom brought home a new drum set for me, maybe we can play together after school tomorrow??! We can play together to the beat.
Josh :^) : It would be sick :^)
Josh :^) : Anyway, I'm gonna be practicing so if you need anything, call me. <3
--
I put my phone into my pocket, agreeing to text him back after I make my baskets. I walk outside, and look up . My head was blistering, I had a wretched headache. Well, no.. I had a migraine.
I start singing a song as I pick up the basketball and start shooting.
The lyrics rolled off my tongue naturally.
"Sunday's are my suicide days.
I don't know why they always seem so dismal-"
A crack of thunder was heard in the distance, I flinched at the sound.
"Thunderstorms, cloud, snow, and a slight drizzle.
Whether it's the weather or the ledges by my bed,"
I shoot my 18th basket.
"Sometimes death seems better than the migraine in my head.."
// late chapter update kms. sorry about that !!
