AurouxPetra - Forgotten Letters

"Dearest Petra,

You seem to always know when I try to sway you with my actions or words, or even the manner that I speak. I noticed the way you look at Levi, and the way you casually have a conversation with him. I admire that, because I too look up to him. But it's different, I can tell. You have the cutest laugh, and prettiest smile. I wish I could see it all the time, but it's always for the Corporal. 

I may not express it well, but the feelings I have are strong and they will only keep growing as the days go by that I am next to you. Yet, you never look at me the way you look at him. It's jealously that seethes in me, although I am no match to someone of his qualities, and I appreciate him enough to not intervene. 

I'm sorry I never respected you enough, or gave you more credit than you deserved. Do you know that? That I am truly sorry? Those words I spoke was just to hide the rapid beating of my heart; to keep you from hearing it. This might be the only time I'll get to apologize, so here it is. 

Petra, I love you and I wish you could see that. I wish you could understand. But if your heart lies with the Corporal, then I will not push. I'll watch you from afar, as long as you are happy.

The Female Titan rushed at them, gaining speed quickly. The blue eyes he's seen too often were watching them. Aurou clenched his jaw and looked to the others. Next his gaze went to Petra, who's eyes where wide and fists holding tightly to her swords. 

"Eren, go to Headquarters as fast as you can! Do it, now!" Erd yelled, looking back at them before giving a nod. 

Aurou and Petra did the same, quickly turning around to face the pursuing titan. Fear was holding him, but he could let them not, especially Gunther. Narrowing his eyes, he followed the others as they surrounded the titan, trying to get to it. But it would just try to grab them. He and Petra shot a grapple each into it's cheek, spinning and driving their blades into it's eyes. 

The titan fell against a tree, but immediately held its hands over its neck. They started slashing at it's arms, their goal to make it weak, to cut off the connection of its hands. After several goes, the titan's arms fell at it's sides, standing there as still as possible. 

Erd grinned and was quick as possible, ready to start working on the neck, when one of the titan's eyes shot open, as well as it's jaws. He was caught quickly and it clamped its teeth on him, spiting him out. 

"No!" Petra cried, hurrying to get away.

Aurou was stunned, hanging there until he heard the woman. His head snapped around when the titan stood and charged. He went after it, the only thought in his head was to save Petra, his comrade. "We need to regroup! Get away now!" 

She was looking up, dragging across the ground. Her eyes were wide and scared. "Petra, now!" Aurou screamed, calling out to her. He needed her to do something, anything to get far away from the titan.

The titan's foot went down, taking the woman with it, against the trunk of a tree. Pain shot through him, as his eyes slowly grew. Anger surged through him next and he glared. Shooting a grapple into it's neck, he rushed forward, blades ready. Yet, as they were about to cut, the neck crystallized  breaking the blades.

This is it. I lost her, I lost everything. I'm sorry Petra. I'm sorry I never had the courage to give you the letter, or even tell you myself. Grief took his and he was suddenly sent flying, and diverted as his back shattered, sending him forward. He couldn't see anything anymore, and all he could feel was immense pain.
