Bailee POV
"I'm telling you, I called her and told her that we needed to talk and she came over, said she'd fix things with Austin and still hasn't." Alex tells me at lunch on Wednesday. "Robert was right there when she said she would!"
"Maybe something came up." I say. "Ebony said she's been packing since Sunday night. And she hasn't told anyone anything yet but Ebony thinks she's leaving. But don't tell Austin yet."
"Bailee, listen here. The kid is going crazy over her. She needs to fix things with him. You saw the old Austin. Don't you want him back?" Robert asks. "She obviously didn't listen to us. Your her best friend. She'll listen to you."
"Correction: I don't know what we are. She hasn't talked to me since Florida." I say.
"Yeah Bailee, she's your best friend. Talk to her and convince her to take Austin back."
I turn at the sound of Drew's voice and my eyes narrow. "What do you want Drew?"
"Why'd Taylor change her number? I tried calling her but it says disconnected. I want her new number." Drew says.
"We aren't on speaking terms so I wouldn't have it." I snap. She didn't change her number, she blocked you.
"I saw you talking to her the other day. Give it to me."
Alex tenses next to me.
"Taylor wouldn't want me to." I say. "People are starting to look Drew. Go away now before you make a fool of yourself."
"I'll leave when I want to. Give me her number!" Drew screams.
"Look dude, listen to Bailee and leave. We don't want to start anything. And I don't think you do either."
Drew rolls his eyes before stepping back. "This isn't over. Tell Taylor I'll be seeing her real soon."
"You wish." I mutter low enough for Alex to hear. "I'm going to find Taylor. Don't tell Austin about this or what we discussed earlier. Bye." I say kissing Alex on the cheek.
I pull my phone out and goto the bathroom and text Taylor. "We need to talk ASAP. You free after school?"
She responds almost immediately. "Can't. I have a last minute graduation party to plan. Maybe some other time?"
Was she blowing me off? Cause that's what it seemed like. I shake my head and check my hair.
My phone buzzes again and I look down. "You don't have plans this Saturday after graduation right? We can talk then. My dad is making me throw this small party to celebrate and your invited along with the crew. Tyler will be there since Ebony likes him."
I quickly reply back that I don't and would see her there.
I walk out and find Alex waiting for me. "Your in." I call.
"Huh?"
"Your boy. He's in. She's having a graduation party after graduation and were all invited. Tell Austin to thank me later." I say, winking at him before turning around and walking to class.
XXXXXXX
Taylor POV
Busy is what I was. I had to study for finals (most of them were done with), pack for California and plan a party and no one could help me. It was all me here.
Not that I was complaining. I loved party planning and honestly, this had to be the best graduation party ever. Of course, I was only inviting 20 people tops so it wasn't that big.
Austin among them.
I decided it was time to clear the air between us and move on. We were both adults here and it was for the best. I was leaving for California Sunday morning and I wouldn't see him again. I hoped.
I had already decided that it would be a cook out/pool party since we had a pool and I figured it would be a good way to kick back after this stressful week.
Tomorrow I was buying the food and graduation decorations and going to get my nails done.
Friday was graduation rehearsal and senior skip day and I wasn't sure what I was doing yet. Probably finishing packing and get everything ready to ship to California. And Saturday at one was graduation and my party was at 7. My flight was at 11 on Sunday morning.
This was really happening.
After crying every night since spring break, I was 3 days closer to leaving and never seeing him again. My wishes were finally coming true.
Just because I was going to clear the air between us, doesn't mean I had to like him or be his friend.
I still hadn't made up with Bailee yet and I wasn't sure if she wanted too.
My phone vibrates with a new text and I wait till I'm stopped at a light before checking it. "Wanna meet for pizza? The guys miss you." - Bailee
"Sure, I have time. Where at?" I respond.
"Big Joes. In 10?"
"See you there."
I turn my right blinker on and get over before pulling into a parking lot and turning around. The place was on the other side of town by the Alamo and I was at least 15 minutes away.
I wonder if Austin will be there and if he'll talk to me. And which "guys" are missing me. I saw them earlier.
I had no clue. I'm guessing Alex, Robert and Zach. And probably Austin. Not a big deal though.
I had seen him at prom, he had came to my house not sure why though, Alex had texted me and told me to make up with him (which I still hadn't done yet) and I hadn't seen him since.
I've seen his truck around town but I haven't seen him yet.
I honestly had no clue what I would do come Saturday when I saw him or heck, even if I saw him earlier in the week. It was awkward between us now. Well to me at least.
I was ready to get away.
I pull into the Big Joe parking lot and park behind Alex's SUV. They must of ridden together to save gas which meant I had no idea who all was here.
I shut my car off before taking my seat belt off and opening the door.
I stop walking when I could see who was in there.
The guy I'd done so good of avoiding was waiting for me. And he'd already spotted me. Great.
