Chapter 6 – Options {Angie POV}
I watched Marilyn hang up and turn back to come back into the living room, only to find me standing in the doorway. I felt like I was going to be sick and pass out at the same time, and that feeling only grew worse with the knowledge of what I’d just heard.
“Angie…” Marilyn began then paused, regarding me carefully. “You should really sit down.”
“Is that true?” I asked, not caring about falling over at the moment. “Will I die if I’m not with him?”
“Nothing about your being mates has been consummated, Angie…” he sighed. “So, yes, if you continued this way, you’ll die.”
“Oh well, if I die, then I die.” I shrugged.
“Don’t you dare! If you die you’ll take Chris with you!” Marilyn shouted at me.
“No…” my hand flew to my mouth in horror. “No…that’s not fair…he should live on…with someone better than me…I’m damaged goods…I don’t deserve him…and he deserves better.”
“Oh, God, I’ll never understand your gender other than how to please them in the bedroom.” Marilyn fumed at me. “You are wonderful in every way. Do you know how long he’s waited for you? Hmm? Do you? You two were destined for each other from birth! There is no one else…for either of you! That’s how this works. I will get you together or die trying, but I’ll be damned if I’m gonna let you die!”
I gulped nervously. “Does that mean I’ll have to…” I couldn’t finish the sentence out loud so I used what he’d taught me instead and projected my thoughts into his mind.
“Yes…you will.” Marilyn stated simply. “But, knowing Chris, he won’t fuck you, Angie…he’ll make love to you.” I blushed and turned away, not knowing if I could do that. “You can, Angie…all you have to do is trust him. He loves you very dearly…as do you little miss ‘I’m in denial’.” I glared at him. “It’s no use looking at me like that.” He sighed and walked over to me, draping an arm casually around my shoulders. I didn’t have the will or energy to push him off. “You will marry soon enough…you’re wedding night won’t be as bad as you think. We’re kind of…programmed to give our mates the greatest amount of pleasure possible…” he looked down at me and chuckled as my blush grew darker than the darkest of blood reds. “Trust me…it’ll all be alright…you’ll enjoy it more than you think you will.”
***
It was nearing one in the morning when there came a frantic knocking on Marilyn’s front door. It was Chris…I could feel him. Marilyn left me, nearly unconscious on his white couch with a promise that he’d be right back.
I felt so cold…I could barely move. And then I saw him. “Chris…” I murmured softly, unable to make my voice any louder. I’d seen him every night in my dreams, touched him, kissed him. But my imagination had made a poor documentation indeed of him.
“Oh, Angie…I’m so sorry…” Chris fell to his knees beside me, he looked heartbroken.
