Chapter 14 – Devil’s Night
{Chris POV}
The unexplained banging echoed around the bus as I felt the twin’s kick under mine and Angie’s hands and I jumped, my heart skipping a beat or two in shock. My eyes narrowed and stood, Angie’s hand still in mine, and looked at each of the guys. They all stood, staring at the bus door, fangs beared, hissing menacingly.
They moved to the front of the bus, waiting for me. I turned to Angie and smiled as reassuringly as I could. “We’ll be back as quickly as we can. Stay on the bus, Cassie will keep you safe.” I kissed her, sweetly at first, then harder. “I love you…”
“I love you too,” she murmured tenderly as she gave me a playful, gentle shove. “Hurry back to me.” She smiled and I nodded earnestly.
We dashed out of the bus and my nose was immediately assaulted by the scent of the Hunter…
“He went that way.” Ryan pointed off towards a small, wooded area about five-hundred metres off to the left.
I nodded, face blank, and followed him and the others along the path of the Hunter’s scent. We hurtled through the woods, following our noses. That was…until the scent just went dead. There was no sign of the Hunter…or that he’d ever been here.
“What the…” Ricky frowned.
“I-” We all froze as a blood-curdling scream rang though the night. I looked at Ricky as we all spoke at once. “Angie!”
We sprinted back through the trees as the sound of screeching car tyres met our ears, drowning out our shouts to the girls. We broke through the tree line as the white van rounded a corner and vanished from sight. I bounded past the others and onto the bus and fell to my knees beside Cassie…Angie was no in sight and I could feel my heart shattering as I shook Cassie awake
“Cassie!” my voice was strained as I roused her from unconsciousness, Ryan kneeling beside her too.
She groaned. “Argh…my head! Fuckwit!” she grimaced as she sat up and looked around quickly. “Oh, God! Angie! We’ve gotta…oh, ow!” she gripped her head as she tried to get up, only to slump back down again.
“Steady, love.” Ryan pulled her against him gently as he looked at me, horrified. “Why didn’t one of us stay on the bloody bus?”
I shook my head. “All we can do now is find her and get her back…” I grit my teeth. “Preferably before he kills my wife and children.”

{Angie POV}
I pulled at the chains that bound my legs to the wall fruitlessly. I was weak without my darling Chris, but I’d be damned if I was gonna let them take my babies without a damned good fight. I braced my feet against the wall and pulled again on the chains with all my might…but still to no avail. I groaned miserably as I moved to lean against the wall.
“Alright, Ange…” I said to myself as I squinted in the dark, attempting to see where the hell I was. “Where are we?” It smelt of blood and rotting flesh. I wrinkled my nose in disgust for the millionth time since waking up in this cesspit and ran my hand over my pregnant belly. I closed my eyes and concentrated hard, trying to find Cassie telepathically. “C’mon Cass…find me…find me…”
I felt her familiar connection finally snap into place. ‘Angie? That you?’
‘Yeah, it’s me!’ I thought desperately, relief flooding my system. ‘Oh, thank God!’
