December Flynn was a shy girl. She had no friends. She had a body that girls wish they could have. Her blue eyes were so pale they were almost clear. Her hazel hair fell in soft waves down to her hips. She could have been the most popular girl in Willow High School but she wasn't. Why? Because she has never spoken a word.

December pushed few strands of hair behind her ear while reaching for her sketchbook from her locker. She always had her sketchbook with her but her sister said that she should leave it behind for a class. December didn't usually worry about what her sister, Cassidy, said but since she joined the cheerleaders, she had become pushy. Demanding December be more normal, so that she wouldn't have a "freaky, silent sister." December smiled slightly, remembering what Cassidy said while she ranted about how December needed to open up and live a little.
The bell went off and students pushed and shoved, trying to get to their classes on time. As usual, December pressed her self against her closed locker while waiting for the students to thin out before walking quickly to her history class.
The teacher's eyes flicked up at December as she walked into class hugging her sketchbook tightly to her chest.
"Why are you late, Miss Flynn?" Mr.Luther asked, handing her a dry erase marker.
She walked to the white board and wrote in small cursive letters "I got stuck in traffic."
Mr. Luther leaned down to see what she wrote then burst out laughing while December walked to the back of the room and took her normal seat by the window.
"Ok let's continue, who can tell me when the Greeks....."
Like always, December tuned out, knowing that she would memorize the lesson from the text book at home.
She looked out the window to the school courtyard, two stories below. Someone was standing in the middle of it, with the January snow falling softly around him.
She squinted, trying to see his face. The snow settled on his black hoodie and black jeans like a blanket. Suddenly he looked at her, his hood falling back and his piercing green eyes looking straight at her.
She gasped silently, turning around in her seat so fast that the chair tipped to the side, spilling her onto the floor.
Snickers were heard from around the room while she pushed herself up off the floor and tried to hide the blush that burned her cheeks.
"Are you okay, Miss Flynn?" Mr.Luther asked, frowning.
She nodded and took out a box of colored pencils and art pencils from her messenger bag. She quickly opened her sketchbook and drew the boy from the courtyard. By the time class was over, she had finished the drawing. It was an exact replica to what she saw earlier.

December ran quickly up the stairs, trying to get to her room before Cassidy came in. She had gotten home a few minutes before her sister. They had decided to see who got home from school first without going over the speed limit. Cassidy gave December a head start, saying that her car would get her there before December, motorcycle or not. Yes, December wasn't scared of motorcycles and she loved her blood-red one.
"December!!" Cassidy screeched, slamming the door behind her.
December grinned, locking her bedroom door and tossing her messenger bag on her desk. Walking to her balcony, she could hear Cassidy running up the stairs.
December's room was huge. It was painted light blue and had its own bathroom, balcony, and walk-in closet.
Also Cassidy had persuaded their parents into giving December her own music room. Her music room had a guitar, piano, violin, electric guitar, and drums. Also there was a sound proof room at the back. It wasn't really a room but was more of a really big closet inside the music room. That sound proof, oversized closet was the only place that December used her vocal chords. She sang. December had a voice more beautiful than any celebrity singer. It rose and fell perfectly. It was as soft as silk and was smooth as honey. Only thing was that no one has ever heard her.
Cassidy thought she was crazy for wanting a microphone for the singing room. But she got their parents to get one anyway.
December's parents ignored her. They only acknowledged Cassidy. With both of them being doctors, they were rarely home for more than a few hours but when they were home and not asleep, they spoke to Cassidy. December never knew why her parents didn't love her like they did Cassidy but her parents lack of love meant she was free to do anything.
Not that she had anything to do. Most of her free time was spent in her music room, the library, or the park, drawing.
"Let me in, December!!" Cassidy yelled while pounding on the closed door.
December smiled before closing the glass door that separated her room from the balcony.
December loved being on her balcony. It had a beautiful view of the woods that were behind the huge house. She shrugged off her black leather jacket, leaving her in a maroon sleeveless shirt and black skinny jeans. She leaned over the rail, her jacket on the floor at her feet. She loved the feeling of the snowflakes on her pale skin. She opened her eyes and looked down at their backyard.
An oddly familiar person stood there.
