Her head was in Stranger's lap. He leaned against a wall, falling asleep with his hand holding hers on her stomach.

December rubbed her eyes with one hand and sat up. Her other hand was intwined with Stranger's. She smiled tiredly and got off her bed. She gave Stranger a small kiss on forehead.

December turned away, heading for the shower and missing the smile that Stranger gave her when he opened his eyes.

"Morning, lovebirds!" Adrian walked in, followed by Freya.

"Shut up, shifter." ,Stranger grumbled, "Do you have a death wish for me?"

"Nope, sorry. I thought you didn't sleep."

"I said I don't sleep often. I haven't slept in three days."

"Where's December?" Freya asked from behind Adrian.

"Shower. Are you still scared of me?"

"Well yeah. When you drank from me those few times, you weren't exactly gentle."

"Sorry but when I went there, it was an emergency. Drink or coma." Stranger shrugged.

The three walked down to the kitchen and Stranger made eggs and bacon.

"Thanks." Freya said quietly when he gave her a plate.

December came into the kitchen, her wet hair in a messy bun. She was wearing red high waisted shorts and an oversized gray sweatshirt. She grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl and wrote on a chalkboard, "Make yourselves at home. I'm going to the library."

"I'm coming." Stranger said immediately.

"Isn't it kind of cold to be wearing that?" Freya raised an eyebrow at December's clothes.

"Whatever. No, the library is warm and I don't get cold. Ever." December wrote before walking to the empty front doorframe.

Stranger watched her get on her motorcycle.

December jerked her head to the right, silently asking if he wanted a ride.

"No. I'll run."

She shrugged and tore off toward the library. Stranger took a step forward to follow her but was stopped by the hand on the arm.

He whipped around and hissed.

"Chill. Why were you at her house last night?" May asked, her hand gripping tighter on his arm.

"I wanted to make sure she was alright. She was in the feeding rooms."

"Well, who the hell brought her there? Don't the retrievers know about her?"

"Apparently, not all of them. If you don't mind, she's already ahead." Stranger yanked his arm out of May's grip.

"I guess we're going to the library, boyfriend." she glared at him and ran.

Stranger sighed and followed her. They caught up to December before she got to the library.

December got off her bike and walked into the library doors.

She headed straight for the fiction center and looked for vampire books, curious as to how close they were to the truth.

Stranger walked in laughing at May's joke, his arm around her waist.

They walked toward December, quieting down.

May walked down the aisle, staring intently at the books. Stranger walked lazily behind her.

December looked curiously at Stranger and May.

Who's she? she wondered, peeking over the book she was holding.

May bumped into December's shoulder, making them both stumble backwards.

"Oh my gosh, sorry. I didn't see you there." May gasped.

December nodded understandingly, still confused as to who she was.

"I just love all these vampire books. I love reading in general. It takes me to a different world. My favorite book has a character who- Oh! Sorry again! I was rambling wasn't I? You probably have better things to do than listen to me, don't you?" May chattered.

"Who's this, babe?" Stranger asked, leaning and putting his chin on her shoulder, his hands around her waist and pulling her closer to him.

May giggled "I don't know. My name is May. You are?" She leaned forward and shook December's hand.

December wrote her name on the chalkboard and held it up.

"That is such a unique name, December! This cutie is Kevin."

Stranger rolled his eyes at the name. Kevin? Really?

"Nice to meet you." Stranger straightened up and reached over May's head to shake December's hand.

December nodded and took out her chalkboard, preparing to ask what was going on when she saw Stranger's eyes. They were filled with warning and caution.

"I don't mind the rambling. I don't really have anything better to do." December wrote.

"Really? Sweet! Most people are just like 'yeah whatever.' You should come by later! I just put in a batch of pumpkin muffins before we left, and you could see my own library! I know pumpkin muffins aren't in season but I love them! The only time I come to the library is when I don't have a book in my own library yet. Come on! I have that book in my library, too." May pointed at the book December was holding in her hand.

"Sure." December wrote.

"Eeeeek! Lets go!" May pulled December to the entrance of the library.

Stranger chuckled and followed the two girls outside.

December looked out the car window and saw trees.

This is the forest behind my house. She thought, turning to May to ask why they were here.

"Don't even ask, sweetie." May said from the drivers seat of the SUV. Her voice had turned hard and unforgiving.

December blinked in surprise. That was a different person, it had to be.

"Don't say anything until we get to my house."

December gazed out the window.

What now? she thought, tiredly, leaning her head against the window. Haven't I learned enough?

No. A voice echoed through her mind.
