She loved the feeling of the snowflakes on her pale skin. She opened her eyes and looked down at their backyard.

An oddly familiar person stood there.

December's P.O.V.

The boy from the courtyard. I thought. It was much easier to see him here than it was at school.

His hood was down and his hair was coal black, sticking up in odd directions. He seemed to be waiting for something when my phone started playing the chorus from "Royals" by Lorde. His head shot up and he watched me, his eyes wide with surprise.

I smiled slightly, before bending down and pulling out my iPhone 4S from my jacket pocket, all the while not breaking eye contact with the stranger. I looked down at my phone, seeing it was Cassidy who texted me, going on about the race. She wanted a rematch.

Oh Cassi, did you really have to tell me that now? I thought, sadly.

The stranger was gone, a trail of footprints leading back to the forest.

Wondering if I should follow him, I walked back into my room, down the stairs and into our humongous kitchen. Cassi was sitting on the counter, a half-eaten PB&J in one hand, her phone in the other.

I wrinkled my nose and shook my head slightly, not knowing why she needed to be constantly texting.

I opened the fridge and pulled out a fig.

Cassi looked up at the sound of the fridge opening. "How can you eat those, they're so sweet!"

I picked up a piece of chalk from the mini tub on the counter.

Cool thing about our house was that all over the house were chalkboards and chalk. The fridge doors, hanging on the walls, we even had one on back of a TV remote. Cassi didn't know why I never spoke but she accepted it, even though she tried to get me out of my comfort zone.

"They taste like candy, that's how." I wrote on the chalkboard counter.

I wandered out the back door. I loved the snow.

"Where's your jacket? You're gonna freeze to death." Cassidy called after me.

I waved toward my balcony, absentmindedly. My mind was once again on the green-eyed stranger. The walk from my balcony, down through the kitchen and out the back door, was only about five minutes with the stop for a fig. But somehow during that time, the stranger had been able to wipe away his footprints, not leaving a trace.

How the hell? I was completely confused.

"December! Go get your jacket! I don't have time to take care of you when you're sick!" Cassi yelled, acting like the mother I never had.

(A/N I am not very good at P.O.V.s so I am only going to be doing shorter ones for December)

Stranger P.O.V.

She saw me. She actually saw me! I was overjoyed. Humans don't usually see me as me. They see whatever fits. At her school, I was seen as a janitor.

She shouldn't have seen me. May was going to kill me.

I looked out from the shelter of the trees. She was standing there, looking perfect. A confused expression on her face. Her sister yelled something from int the house. She rolled her eyes and started jogging toward the trees where I was hiding.

She was walking deeper into the woods. She did something I never expected. She sang.

"You are my sunshine

My only sunshine

You make me happy

When skies are gray

You'll never know, dear

How much I love you

Please don't take my sunshine away"

Her voice rang out slowly, high and clear. Unknowingly, I took a step forward, causing a a twig to snap under my feet.

Her head snapped toward me, her jaw clamped shut. Her pale blue eyes trapped me where I stood. She just stared at me, not coming forward, not moving back.

Her gaze turned questioning. I opened and closed my mouth, feeling like a fish. She smiled, showing two rows of pearly white teeth. I smiled back, forgetting to pull my fangs back into my mouth. Her eyes widened as she slowly backed away.

"No wait. Please don't go!" I begged, taking a step towards her.

She shook her head and whipped around, sprinting for her house.

I sighed, running to May's house. I shouldn't have done that. As I expected, May was leaning against the frame of her front door.

"Well, what's new with the girl?" she asked, looking at her nails, seeming bored.

"She can see me." I said.

"She what?" May looked up suddenly. "She can see me."

"Great! Who else is going to watch her?! No one else wants to waste their time watching a puny human!" ,she exclaimed, "I have to go talk to Master. Keep watching her and stay out of sight."

With that, May ran off, leaving me with my thoughts.
