I heard it from a mile away. It was a sound that was so scarce at this point that for the next twenty seconds after hearing it I believed I was dreaming. The sound I heard was most definitely a gunshot.

I took off running passing through the ruins of what used to be Chicago dead set on finding the source of the gun fire. I reared around the dilapidated Sears Tower, and that's when I saw them. There was five other humans standing in front of me!

As I walked up I could hear them speaking and it sounded like this was the first time any of them had met before.

"Do you have any food?"
"Where did you come from?"
"Is there anyone else out there you know about?"

In the excitement of seeing other people for the first time the conversation turned to a flurry of everyone asking questions and trying to talk over each other. Before he could stop me I yanked a pistol from a tall brown haired boy that I guessed had fired the bullets that brought us all here and while firing a bullet into the air shouted,"Hey!"

Everyone stopped talking and stared wide eyed at me. Now that I had the full attention of them all I said," I know we're all excited to see each other but unless we talk orderly here nothing will get done, so let's start with names. I'm Damian."

They all looked hesitant to follow me up but then the boy I grabbed the gun from ripped his weapon away and replied,"Name's Joe, and next time you take my gun I'll skin you."

Joe struck me as the harsh type who liked things to stay out of his way but before I could think about it a redheaded girl to my left spoke up.

"My name is Hannah." she said in a soft voice. She quickly looked like she regretted talking but attention was drawn away when the other three gave their names.

"Kris." said a tall boy who looked like he would kill as soon as look at you.

"I'm Sean." replied a smaller boy who was playing with some weird object.

"Tessa." was the reply from the girl who had yet to speak.

Now that names were out of the way I spoke again," Nice to meet y'all, but before we continue we should probably make a camp since nights not far off.
