Hannah began to lead our now smaller group onwards to New Orleans. We covered as much ground as we could but with Tessa's injury and lack of energy from not having much food to eat we couldn't get far before having to stop.

"Hey Tessa, can I borrow your bow? Me and Sean are going to see if there's any food around so we don't starve to death." I said to Tessa.

"Yea as long as when you get back it's in one piece and your carrying food with you." she told me as I took the weapon from her. Her injury was healing slowly but as it did her mood seemed to be improving.

With Tessa's crossbow in tow me and Sean set off hoping for anything we could possible get. We had walked for a good mile in silence and that's when I noticed him fiddling with that object is of his.

"So are you ever going to show the rest of us what that thing your always playing with is?" I asked him. He clearly didn't expect this based on the surprised look on his face.

"Oh, Well if you really want to know what it is I'll tell you. It is..." He was saying as I told him to stop talking.

"Shh, did you hear that?" I asked him in barely a whisper straining to try and hear the sound again. It was like something was moving slowly around us.

"I don't hear anything" Sean replied.

"I said be quiet and listen really closely!" I said annoyed while trying to still whisper.

I trained my eyes in front of me hoping to catch a glimpse of what was moving around hoping it would be tonight's dinner. Unluckily for Sean and I in this situation we weren't the hunters but the prey.

Not ten feet in front of us a huge wolf materialized in front of us. The difference between the animal in front of us and the wolves of the olden days is that it's called a death hound, it has red eyes, and is about twenty times better at everything than a regular wolf.

To make mattered worse it wasn't alone. A second one appeared directly behind us meaning they had managed to trap us.

"Well Damian you wanted to know what this thing is and here's the perfect time to find out." Sean yelled seeming a little too excited for the situation.

With a quick motion he moved the object in such a way that it completely changed shape and was turned into something recognizable. BLADES!!! The thing tuned into two blades that were each about a foot and a half long each, with straps that he wrapped around his arms.

There wasn't time to awe though because before we could do anything else the death hounds decided it was time to make their move. The one that had been behind leaped high into the air aiming for Sean while the other lunges at me. It was a good thing I had taken the Tessa's bow because it allowed me to hit the Death hound in it's muzzle before it could latch on to my arm.

After a brief moment of being stunned it gained its nerve back and tried to circle around me before attacking again. Without really looking I fired a arrow at it missing by a mile away. It took that moment to leap forward again and since a didn't have another arrow ready all I could due was roll out of its way. Now in a sitting position I managed to get another arrow in place and fire again. This time hitting it in it's back leg.

Then to my surprise their was a yelp off to my left and the Death hound in front of me began to run off, limping due to the arrow embedded in it's leg. Looking over to my left I was left astonished

There was Sean standing over the death hound that had attacked him. He was covered in blood but clearly his blades had served him well.

"Well Damian looks like we have good tonight. We better get back to the girls." Sean said to me.

The thing weighed a ton. It took all of the energy Sean and I had left to drag it back to where the girls were.

"Well look what we've got here." Tessa said to Hannah as we showed up dragging the hound behind us.

"Where did you find that and how did you kill it?" Hannah said poking fun but clearly happy that there would be food to eat.

"Actually it found us with one of its friends and Sean here killed the thing." I told her beginning to prepare a fire to cook the meat.

Maybe things were finally turning around.
