Chapter 3

"Why the hell should we follow you to New Orleans? We just met and you expect me to follow you blindly? What in the world gave you that God damn idea?" Joe was shouting.

"I didn't want any of you to come with me but Tessa and Hannah here think it would be a good idea for us to go as a group." I said trying to sound calm, but he was starting to push me a little to far.

"So now the bitches get to decide everything! The one only tried to contradict me at every turn and the other barely talks! We'd be better off asking a rock for advice than listen to those fucking idiots. If you let them call the shots well all end up dead!" he shouted while getting in my face.

Before anyone could react to his ranting I lost my temper and landed a punch right on his chin. He fell to the ground, but he pushed me to far. I continued my assault, but he was fighting back now at this point. It wasn't till we were pulled apart by the others that the fight stopped.

Kris and Sean were pushing Joe back to keep him from launching himself at me. Likewise Tessa and Hannah were trying to keep me from beating Joe within an inch of his life.

"Take a walk and we will have a meeting on what to do when you get back." Hannah told me.

When I got back everyone was sitting around a fire eating what little food could be found. I walked up and sat down next to Sean on a piece of an old telephone pole that had been dragged over to act as a bench.

"Here." said Sean as he handed me a price of dried meat.

"Thanks." I told him.

Around the fire everyone seemed to be in a serious tone. No one was talking and barely anyone was eating. Joe was staring me down from across the fire with a small cut on the side of his face.

"So clearly we need to talk about where we go from here. So let's hear your ideas." Hannah said finally breaking the silence.

"I told you what I was doing already. I'm going to New Orleans with you or without you all." I pronounced.

"Good riddance! As for me I say we head for the east coast, people are bound to head there if anyone else is left." Joe replied as soon as I spoke.

"I think Joe's right about this. Out best bets the coast." Kris said clearly not wanting to follow me.

"Well you both can go die at sea if your like, as for me I'm going with Damian's plan." Tessa said.

"I agree, they were the last ones to ever broadcast so it does make sense to head that way." Hannah replied after Tessa. "What about you Sean, what do you think?"

"I'm not sure which plan is better, but I do know we don't have supplies to make either trip. I mean all we have is a few strips of meat left, about five bottles of clean water, Joe's gun which no one can touch, Tessa's small crossbow, and a few other items." was what Sean added to the conversation.

"Well this is how its going to go," Joe said fingering his gun "me and Kris will take the food and water and head for the coast, while Damian and the broads can go and get themselves killed trying to get to New Orleans. Sean you can come along or perish with the others."

Tessa brought her crossbow to her lap and watched every movement of Joe's hand, as it now was grasping his gun.

"First of all were not all splitting up because then all of us are going to die. Secondly your not taking all the supplies with you anywhere." Hannah was saying and stopped abruptly when Joe drew his pistol and aimed it at her.

Before Joe could say and or do anything Tessa aimed her own weapon at Joe and yelled to him, "Put the gun away now. You may miss your shot, but I won't I can promise you that.

"Whoa, put those damn things away would you?" Sean said to the surprise of everyone. "How about this, let's all head to New Orleans and if that turns out to be a failure Joe can take over and lead us all to the east coast.

After some talking with Kris Joe finally agreed to the plan Sean had proposed. We got what rest we could get and headed out with the first light of the sun.
