Chapter 16: Chunin Chaos
Emiko walked along the street of the village, greeting many of the villagers with a hello. Although she had been here for merely a week, the place already felt like home in a way. "Emiko-san!" she heard a yell from behind. Turning around, she saw the familiar blonde haired girl running up her. Emiko gently smiled.
"Hi Temari, how are you today? And how many times have I told you to call me nee-chan?" She scolded. Temari giggled before nodding.
"Okay, I'll make sure to. Anyways, Lady Chiyo has summoned you at the usual place for training."
Emiko sighed, "And I thought I would get a break today. Time to go, oh and don't forget to give my greetings to Kankuro and Gaara to me." Temari hesitantly nodded before she watched the older girl disappear.
Arriving at the hidden underground room underneath the hospital, Emiko stepped inside the room to see Lady Chiyo sitting on the ground with the usual seals painted on the floor. There were only a few other medical ninjas who were working on the sideline. Looking up, Lady Chiyo narrowed her eyes.
"You're late child."
Emiko sheepishly grinned, "Gomen. I was walking around the village so I lost track of time."
Lady Chiyo rolled her eyes, knowing how much a relaxed person Emiko is. It had taken a few days, but she had eventually warmed up to the young girl bit by bit. There was an aura around her that Lady Chiyo couldn't help but soften up to her. Maybe an innocence? Or maybe it was the fact that she reminded her of Sasori all those years ago.
"We won't be wasting any time now. And also take your pills," the Lady Chiyo took a quick glance at her, "You're looking pale." Emiko instinctively brought a hand to her cheeks and sadly smiled.
"Hai. It's been getting a bit worse, but I'm hanging on." She spoke before drily swallowing the painkillers.
"That is why we are researching for your condition." Lady Chiyo smirked, "We shall find something." Emiko sat down next to her and grinned before bringing her hands in jutsu formation.
"You're correct, granny. I can see where Sasori had gotten his skills from...I wonder where he is right about now." She fondly smiled remembering all the times he saved her. Lady Chiyo nodded thinking the same thing. Where are you my grandson? Are you well? Where have you disappeared off to?
"I'll find him someday granny. I made a promise that I would see him before I ever died, and I will keep that promise. I will definitely meet him one day." Emiko smiled making Lady Chiyo's eyes widen. This child...

Emiko picked up a few pastries from the local shop and happily bounced along the streets munching on the sweet with the flavors of fresh fruits bursting in her mouth. She had to admit, Konoha had the best dango's, but Suna definitely had their fruit pastries. As she walked along, she could feel a gritty feeling on her feet.
Looking down, she noticed grains of sand wrapping around her ankles before it picked her up and turned her body around. She knowingly grinned whose sand this was. "Come on out, Gaara. I know you're there." Emiko gently spoke, realizing that she had to be cautious and gentle with the boy due to his angered personality obtained from Shukaku and the lack of sleep.
The boy appeared in whirlwind of sand right next to her with his arms across his chest. Emiko noticed that he seemed a bit relaxed than his usual self as they both moved to sit on the roof of the Kazekage building. The two didn't say anything as she passed a pastry to him. Gaara glanced at the sweet with a glare before casually taking it.
