February 18th, 1979
Today is the day. I have been waiting for this for what feels like forever, even though it's only been a couple of months. Since I'd heard that Queen was releasing a new album at the end of 1978, I knew that I'd have to save up and go to a concert. In the last few years I have gotten more into the band, to the point I am now, where everyone thinks I'm in way too deep. Unfortunately, I've never had the time or money to go to a show, despite how much I'd love to. However, I have finally scored myself some tickets to the concert tonight at the Pavillion De Paris
I get up out of bed and already have far more energy than I usually do at this time of the morning. I finish getting ready and I reach for the phone to call Marc, my boyfriend, to let him know I'm going to his.
I hear the familiar clicking of the phone being picked up. "Hello?"
"Hey Marc, it's me, I'm coming over to yours and I'll finish getting ready then. Is that alright?"
"Yeah of course. I'll see you in a minute. Love you."
"Love you too."
I hang the phone back up, pick up my hand bag and walk out of my motel door.
Marc and I started going out in my third year of university, he was in a couple of my classes and became a part of my social group. It's been two years and I'm quite happy. He is an absolutely lovely boyfriend, who is very caring, almost to a fault. Sometimes it can be a little overbearing the way he tries to spend time and do things with me when I'm around, but he means well. He is actually French, but decided to study abroad. After we finished our degrees he moved back to Paris, but I stayed behind in England. We weren't sure about a long distance relationship at first, but we decided to give it a shot. It's worked out fairly well, and we have been able to get time off of work to spend a week with each other. It's only once every couple of months, but better than nothing at all.
Also, luckily enough, my best friend is able to come for the last few days I'm here. Unfortunately her girlfriend isn't able to get time off to come as well. This time I had managed to get a week and a half off, so I didn't have to leave as soon. I have planned to leave on the second of March, so I had a day at home to get ready for work and my regular old life again.
I could hail a cab, but it's only a ten minute walk to Marc's apartment, and I could do with expending a bit of energy. In no time I round the corner onto his street. It's a fairly old one with cobbled roading and ancient street light. It's hard not too love Parisian architecture. It's a tad pretentious, I know, but the quaint old buildings are rather charming.
I reach the door and buzz his apartment. I soon get a reply and the door unlocks for me. As soon as I walk in I hear loud thudding down the stairs. Coming into view is a slightly breathless, and very attractive Marc. His short, dark hair is a bit messy and decidedly less shiny than usual. Evidently he hasn't been up for very long. He continues down the stairs and runs over to me, picking me up and spinning me around. When he puts me down he plants many small kisses over my face.
"Hey hey hey, it's alright. I was over just yesterday," I say while pushing him away a little bit. It could annoy me how he would be like that. It's lovely, but a bit childish sometimes.
"I know, ma Chèrie, but I missed you," he says.
"I do love how you say that."
"I know you do, it's why I do it. I like the way you say everything," he says, leaning down, "especially my name," he softly whispers in my ear.
"Sod off," I say, batting his arm.
He laughs then leads me upstairs. We go into his cozy apartment and I head straight for the bathroom, taking my small bag of make up with me.
