Today's the big day!

At half past seven tonight, the last leg of the 'Jazz' tour begins and I'll be watching it from the side of the stage. I was going to get up at half past six this morning to go along and help the crew finish setting up, but Gerry convinced me that I don't need to come. Besides, I need to actually do some of my job and the band isn't going down to the arena until lunch.

I spend an hour this morning, while eating my breakfast, making up some questions to ask the boys as part of a mini interview to send to the head of the Queen fan club for it to be published. It may also get sent to some Japanese magazines if the boys are unable to do some interviews, so I have to make it pretty good.

I have known them for a while now, and have become quite good friends with them, but I'm still very nervous when I knock on their door. Brian answers the door in half a second, swinging it open wide.

"Hey Alex! Come on in!" He says.

The other three are already sitting around the living area of the lush suite. They are all dressed quite casually; in sweat pants and t-shirts. Except for Freddie. For some reason he is wearing a pair of nice jeans and a dress shirt. I know for a fact that he prefers to lie around in sweats.

"Why so overdressed?" I ask him, taking a seat across from them and putting some of my stuff on the coffee table.

"It's cause he wants to impress you little A." Roger says, taking a seat across from me and next to Freddie.

"Fuck off. It's actually because I'm expecting there to be fans when we get to the venue and don't want to look like a hot mess like the rest of you." Freddie snaps back.

Roger starts to argue back, but John interrupts. "Come on boys get your acts together. Just because Alex is our friend doesn't mean she isn't here trying to do her job."

I smile at him, grateful for him diffusing the situation. "Thank you John. Now I'll just be asking a few questions, writing down the answers et cetera. This will be going to the fan club and any Japanese magazines that don't manage to get an interview they request."

Brian takes a seat on the floor to the side of the coffee table. "Go right ahead."

"Okay, so first, for whoever wants to answer; Are you excited to be back in Japan after three years?"

Freddie takes this one. "Absolutely. Japan has an excellent vibe and the fans here are some of the best at audience participation. It is unfortunate we didn't make it here for the last tour, but we are very pleased to be back."

I try to scribble down answer as fast as I can. "Will you be coming back to tour again if you complete another album?"

"If we are able to, and the fans want us to come back then absolutely. We'd be happy to come back again. There will definitely be another album on it's way too."

I continue to rattle off questions and they all answer them well and professionally. I wasn't sure how serious they were going to be before we started as whenever we all have had a chat together it has turned into some pretty hilarious banter. However, to my surprise, they are very professional and answer all the questions seriously. The most surprising thing is when I ask them what they'll be doing after the tour, John says, "Well I suppose we'll be mixing the live album won't we."

As it turns out they're creating their first live album from the concerts in Europe. The title is yet to be confirmed, but they said that it may be Live Killers. I'm well excited for them.

We are now at the Nippon Budokan and the boys have been doing sound checks and rehearsals for hours now. I was content with sitting and watching them and learning how the whole process works for the first hour, but that does start to become tedious when you're not actually doing anything.
