March 1st, 1979
I wake up to warm sunlight shining into my room. It looks like it is going to be a lovely day, fitting for the first day of spring. I feel quiet and content, right up until the moment that last night's memories flood back into my conscious. If only I could relive those fantastic memories I would never ask for anything ever again. I look over at the clock on the bedside table and it reads 9:07.
"Shit," I mumble, leaping out of bed. Carrie is meant to be arriving in less than thirty minutes and I have only just woken up.
I rush to my suitcase and whip out some underwear, shorts and a t-shirt. I throw them on and go to the kitchen. I grab the cereal and look for a bowl. Realising none of the dishes have been done yet, there are no clean bowls. Shrugging my shoulders, I open the cereal packet and pour it in my mouth. I only have three mouthfuls and then search around for Marc. The first place I go to is his office because where else could he be? Of course when I need him, he isn't in there. I look around the rest of the house to find nothing, except for a note.
Hey honey, hope you slept well. I've been called into work to help out with something. Interns right? I've taken the car and will be back in a couple hours. Remember to pick up Carrie and take her to the motel.
"Bloody wanker has taken my ride!" I yell, throwing my arms about in exasperation, "you'll be paying for the taxi I have to take later, mate."
I open the phone book that Marc keeps next to his telephone. I look for the cab companies, it took me a few minutes, but I found it. I call and luckily there is one that should be around in the next five minutes.
The cab came and I got in, heading for the airport. My watch says it is 9:23, and I am hoping her plane is late because so am I.

The cab pulls into the drop off zone and I hand the driver the fare and jog into the building, getting out the piece of paper that says where Carrie is supposed to be. Fortunately, she is arriving through Gate 3 which isn't far from where I currently am. Making my way to her as fast as I could in the crowds, I speed walk to the gate. When I turn the corner into the sitting area I see my best friend with a few bags around her feet, looking bored out of her mind.
"Carrie!" I call, leaning against a wall.
Her face lights up as she turns to look at me. She stands up, leaving her bags behind, and jogs up to give me a hug. I return a big smile, and put my arms around her.
"Hello Alexandra," she says while hugging me back tightly.
"All right, all right. Let's go get your things," I say, ushering her back to her bags. The people that are still in the room are staring at us with raised eyebrows and scoffed. It is, however, hard to pay them any mind when your best friend is with you in Paris.
"Now what took you so long, arsehat,"Carrie asks me.
"Well..." I stall, "I had to make my way here without my own car because somebody had to go to work, again."
"Oh no. Really?" Carrie says, putting her arm around my shoulder as we walk out of the building.
"Yeah. It's nice that he is so determined to work hard and make money, but I come all the way over here to spend a week with him, and he works half the time he doesn't have to."
"Oh well, chin up buttercup. How was the concert though?" Carrie says, thankfully changing the subject.
"Oh my fucking god. I love Marc, I really do, but those men," I say shaking my head, "I would take that any day."
