Kitty swooped in unsteadily next to her older brother. He gave her a pained look before realising what was in her bag. Kitty nodded and she dished some out for him on a plate. He gobbled up his plate while she dished some food for her kitten. She sat against the outside wall of the cardboard house she slept in with her kitten and sighed. This was never going to end. Michael would never get better, and he would eventually die.
Her short thoughts, or maybe they were long, she couldn't tell, she had lost track of time, were cut short when she heard the roar of an engine. It came from a car that could probably buy both her and Michael. Out of it stepped a man carrying a shield on his back. His powerful muscles moved through his shirt as he walked towards them.
Kitty shot up from her position and into fighting stance. "What do you want from us?" She asked harshly.
Stopping, the man turned to her. "Is he injured?" he said, pointing to Michael lying on the ground.
"N-no. Not injured. Terminally sick. He wants... Nevermind" Kitty said, her throat feeling tight.
When the man gave her a sad smile and nod, she started to make out his features. He had a strong jaw, which led into a face made of stone. He reminded her of a younger version of her WW11 veteran great-grandfather. His mouth barely made expression at all sometimes, but his eyes were filled with emotions. It was his eyes that smiled, laughed, cried, screamed, and had felt anger, sadness, joy, and fear. His hair was styled as well. She thought this man attractive.
No, Kitty, she scolded herself, love is a big no no. Remember what Thanos said.
"Ma'am?"
"Oh yes! Sorry!" Kitty stumbled over her words.
"Is this why you stole the food from us?"
"I guess so, I mean..." Kitty started, then trailed off as her eyes widened in realisation. This, in front of her, was Captain America, which explained the shield on his back.
Kitty's heart pounded. He must have noticed though, because he crouched just slightly to meet her eyes. He was at least a foot taller than her.
"I won't hurt you. That's not why I'm here." He said with kind eyes. "What's your name?"
"K-kitty."
"Your real name?"
"The name I go by. I don't particularly like anything else"
"Fair enough." The man stood and extended his hand. "I'm Steven Rogers. Steve."
"I pulled that evidence together," you laughed as you shook hands.
"Okay, so here's the part you may not like: my fellow team member wants to have a discussion with you. I don't know why so don't ask. But he needs you, whether you come by force or by will." The man said with almost guilt in his eyes.
Kitty shifted on her feet. "I can't leave Michael... And you can't force me to do anything!" she shouted, suddenly becoming angry.
"How do you presume?" Another man stepped out of the car and walked near Steve. She caught a glimpse of his metal arm and it made her shudder.
"I'll fight you myself! I can do it!" Kitty screamed, her blood boiling in her veins.
"We know you're powerful, but you're a rookie. Plus, your stuff can't nab Steve's shield. Don't play it. Just come on. We're not kidnapping you," the metal armed man said.
"I'm. Not. Going. ANYWHERE!" Kitty jumped into the air and fired a shot of light at them. Steve was ready though, it seemed. He brought his shield up and rolled the other man behind him.
When Kitty's blast ceased, she noticed no damage to the shield, or the men behind it. Steve stood up, ready for another attack. Where was the other man?
It was too late. The other man had snapped the vibranium cuffs over her hands before she could react. Her hands were submerged in the unbreakable metal, chains connection them. She fell to the floor and cried. "Michael, I'm sorry!"
"Pick her up Steve. She likes you more than me," the metal armed man said slowly.
"Got it Bucky," Steve said. Bucky must be the metal armed man.
Steve lifted her gently and sat her in the back seat. "Buck, you've got to be in back with her. Tony only lets me drive."
"To hell with Tony. I'll get us there faster," Bucky said with annoyance.
"Fine." Steve opened the back door and slid in next to her. Bucky slid the car into drive and screeched off.
Kitty, although unwillingly, started to cry. She thought of her brother and her kitten and how they would die without her.
After a few minutes, they reached a secluded area with the building she had busted into. The burned hole in the roof was still present. After the car was parked, Steve got out and motioned for her to do the same. Kitty stepped out and immediately collapsed. Her head was pounding and she felt weak. Her breaths were short and ragged and the air that she sucked in seemed contaminated.
She felt Steve pick her up and walk her inside before completely blacking out.

"Is she going to be alright?" Steve asked frantically as he handed her off to Clint and Tony."I would assume so, Cap," Tony said irritably. As they wheeled her off, his heart sank in sadness. They had made her abandon her only family. That wasn't right. Steve sprinted to the car again and pounded the ignition. Screeching out of Tony's monster garage, he sped off towards the site.
As he pulled up next to her "house" he found her brother lying in a heap on the floor, the kitten curled up beside him. He stooped down and hoisted the brother, Michael, into the cars back. He the gently picked up the kitten and set it in his own lap in the drivers seat.
Starting the car again, he thought of the weak stage Kitty was in. That just lead him to think about Bucky during his brainwashing stages. He squeezed the memory to the back of his head.
Steve pulled in, lifted Michael and the kitten into the mansion, and laid them shakily onto the bed in one of the spare rooms.
"Tony! See if you can help this guy out!" Steve called out. Tony raced into the room.
"He needs an oxygen tank. Why doesn't he have one?"
"They live on the streets..."
"Gotcha." Tony raced off into another room.
"Mhm," Steve murmured. He scooped up the kitten and walked aimlessly around, searching for Kitty's room.
"It's down the hall, Steve," he heard the Vision say.
"Thanks!" Steve speed walked towards the room. He knocked on the door.
"Come in!" Nat's voice came through the door. He opened it warily and saw Nat leaning over Kitty intently.
Her face wasn't calm despite the fact that she was knocked cold. Her face twisted in worry, a frown still played at her face. She was pretty, well, pretty.
Steve leaned over and placed the kitten on her shoulder. It curled up in the crook of her arm and fell asleep. He shook his head as he left the room.
What was she going to do next?
