The whole dance floor was glowing a Valentine theme winter white, pink, and red shooting from the glass squares. There was pink and red hearts with cute sayings hanging on the high vaulted ceiling frequently falling off purposely for someone to catch. Almost looks like when a bride throws her bouquet, only except that the men go after it and the women wait to be greeted with it
The air had a hint of chocolate but mostly just reeked of alcohol breath, sweat, and throw up. Everyone seemed not to mind the smell when their main focus was to score a one night stand.
"God, can you believe people actually come here around Valentine's Day" I asked taking a swig of my Cosmo "I mean shouldn't they be with their parents or significant other celebrating the fact that they aren't separated" I said lifting my head up high to tap the bottom of my already empty margarita glass, begging for a least one more drop
"Slow down" Bruce said snatching the glass away from me so fast I couldn't even blink, my hands now feeling emptiness as I tried to cling back onto it desperately, but he already gave it to the Bartender
I felt exasperated with him, I could've gotten three more drops of my money's worth "Why don't you speed up"
"Karla, please. That" He pointed to the rows of different alcohol bottles on the shelf in front of us "Is empty calories" He scoffed "No thanks"
I gave him a sneered look and lifted my finger up again to the bartender for another round then spun my stool chair to face Bruce "Well I guess I'm going to have empty fat on me the next day"
He stared at me head to toe from my sitting position and I raised an eyebrow with a blank expression as he body scanned me "You're already fat"
I felt my jaw drop to the floor, the bones that hold it up cracked at his harsh words. I picked it back up and rubbed my arm in embarrassment as I scooted my stool closer to the bartender counter to cover my body "Hurtful. No I'm not, I'm... Average" I said with confidence
"Ugh Karla I'm sorry" He apologized "I'm just totally fussing over how fat I'm getting. I'm gay fat, I'm straight thin, but gay fat"
I rolled my eyes at Bruce petty fussing and shifted myself on the stool still waiting on my third drink
"Ooh hot guy one o'clock" Bruce whisper yelled in my ear jabbing me in my side hard to get my attention quicker.
I took my slow time to turn around to the direction Bruce was jabbing me to look at, once I did I got a clear view of a nicely dressed man coming my way. No matter how many times I said no, they always come back around- it gets tiring. I should just keep the song 'NO' on replay on my uPhone
"Here we go again" I groaned taking a sip of my drink that was recently placed in front of me
"Hey" He greeted placing his forearm on the counter "The medicine on my glasses may be wearing off because whenever I look at you everyone else blurs" He flirts, shifting the black rimmed glasses on his eyes as he squints around the room
"Wow" I heard Bruce side comment from behind me snickering
I sighed and placed my drink down. I rubbed my temples to prevent a headache I know is coming my way. "I'm not interested"
"I'm interested" Bruce chimed in raising his hand and scooting over to the guy's peripheral vision
"I like cats" He said, leaning forward to twirl my silver studded earrings between his fingers, his alcohol breath fanning my cheek "I like making them purr for me" He purred himself, his gaze locking on mine as he rubbed my earlobe
