Ch13/1 - Reunion
"You're never the same person you used to be."
I woke up in the back of a car without any armor, weapons, or AI. I immediately noticed that Savvy wasn't attached to my arm. I looked around groggily, trying to find my friends.
"He's up!" This voice was not one I recognized. It wasn't as deep as Mark's, but it was deeper than mine or Alex's.
"Get answers." Another voice, this one was female.
"Samuel." The first person said, "Samuel, wake up!" He shook me until I weakly slapped his arm. "I'm going to ask, you going to answer." He stated.
"Where are my friends?" I asked. He looked at me funny before dismissing the question.
"You have been in close contact with many aliens." He stated. "We need information on them, and you'll give it to us. Do I make myself clear?" He finished in all seriousness. He was going to hate me so much...
"As mud." I answered, chuckling at my own joke. He didn't find it as funny, pulling out a black blocky thing with a yellow tip. Some arcs of electricity jumped about the air.
"What have they come here for?" He asked, stopping the taser for a moment. "Why did they take kids."
"I am not a kid. Anyway, you had your chance for information. You declined." I answered, a bit angry that he called me a kid. I can almost drive. Grace can fly. Not something you see everyday.
He pulled out the taser and sent a bolt of electricity through me. My body seized for only a moment before he pulled it away. "This isn't a deal. Those aliens pose a threat to Earth and need to be eradicated."
I laughed at that. "You think they're looking to dominate all life? Ha!" I couldn't help myself, they were just too oblivious. "They asked if we'd come aboard, we did. You tried to take us back, we refused. We even offered to gather information for you, you refused. End of story!" I explained. He only grew angrier. "You could have learned a lot, but now you know nothing!"
That was how I found out about his short temper. He tased me so much, I could only keep consciousness because his partner had pulled him away.
"Fine, then we won't demand." The woman said, having her partner drive instead. He was fuming at the fact I didn't really answer his question. I noticed the woman (thankfully) didn't carry any tools back with her.
"You refused our offer before we started to know them. Why should we give you anything now?" I asked, noticing that she was being so much more kind than her partner.
"Because you could be saving the planet." She responded far too calmly. I was starting to think she was trying to be charismatic and lie.
"From what threat? They asked us to come onto their ship, we agreed. It wasn't like they'd stolen us." She nodded slowly, probably having bought into the propaganda that's likely been spread around.
"How many of you were taken aboard?" She asked. This question is something they already knew the answer to, but I could answer myself.
"Three." I responded.
"Where's the fourth?" She asked, looking very surprised.
"There's a fourth?" I returned, surprised at the new information. I guess it's possible that they lost count, but the one counting must be bad at their job if that's the case.
"A fancy ship arrived not long after the first, but only one person went with it." She answered.
That would explain how the grenade harmed me so much. It wasn't hard light, but none of my armor seemed to stop it. None of the aliens that retaliated seemed to be affected either.
