Chapter 21: Wingman

< Mikey's POV>
The car ride to the arcade was fun. Maddie was super cool ad funny. She would make fun of the people walking by. I almost pissed myself twice. We got to the arcade and I ran to get the door for her. When I opened it she blushed and thanked me.

Walking in I saw two familiar figures by the ski ball machine. I gave Maddie money for the coins and walked over to them.
"Dani? Luke?"

"Ohh heyy Mikey what a coincidence you'd be here." Dani said giving me a little push.

"You told me to bring Maddie here."

"Ohh which one is she?"

"Dani why are you here?"

"Luke and I are going to be your wing people." She said with a big smile.

"Mike I did not agree-"

"Luke. Stop speaking." Dani him off real quick causing me to laugh.

"Sorry baby." Luke said giving her a kiss.

"Boy she got you whipped." I said to Luke.

"I know. Help." He whispered receiving a glare from Dani. "I'm kidding babe."

"So why are you here again?"

"To help you not fuck up."

"Oh ok? Well I'm going over to Maddie...see you never"

"I'll see you at home dipshit."

"You know what I meant."

I walked over to find Maddie eating fries at a table.
"Hey cutie is this seat taken?"

"Only by you Mr. Clifford."

"Gee thanks."

"So not to be nosy or anything but who were those people?"

"My sister and one of my best mate/her future husband."

"Oh they are getting married?"

"No he's just whipped so I make fun of him."

"Hahaha that's clever. That's how I am with my friends."

"Marry me?" I asked with a laugh.

"Of course! I didn't even have to whip you into shape." She laughed.

We both laughed at that and then I started to choke on a fry. Wow real smooth Mike, real smooth.

"Are you ok?" Maddie asked while laughing.

I gave her a thumbs up while coughing.

"Here drink some water." She handed me her water bottle.

"Thanks." I said after I took a swig from the bottle.

"Wanna go play some games?"

"Sure but I have to worn you, you're gonna loose."

"Sure...That's what they all say."

"What?"

"Let's go play!" Se laughed and dragged me away.

I was on my way to take Maddie home. Sadly she beat me in almost every god damn thing we played. The only fucking thing I won was basketball because all I had to do was literally put the ball in the hoop. No shooting, just standing. Maddie struggled because of her small 5'3 frame. It was so cute when she got mad though. Then she beat me at air hockey. The whole night Luke and Dani kept glancing towards us to make sure 'I'm not fucking anything up.'

"Mikey?"

"Yeah?"

"You sortta zoned out."

"I'm sorry."

"What were you thinking about?"

"How cute you are."

"Um thank you?" She blushed.

"Anytime. So where to?"

"Home. I have work in the morning."

"Oh that sucks."

"Tell me about it." She laughed.

"Well you have to wakeup early. Go to work-"

"It was a figure of speech."

"I knew that." I blushed.

"Well this is my stop."

"Awe man. Now I'm going to be lonely." I pouted.

"You have Daniel."

"Wha-what! How do you know about him!"

"Dani and I have known each other since pre-school. She told me a lot about you. "

"Is that why you went out with me?"

"No not at all. I have liked you since last year dummy."

"Why haven't I noticed you?"

"I stay hidden."

"Oh. I need to be more observant and maybe go outside for once."

"Yeah that would be a good idea." She laughed. "Well bye."

"Maddie wait."

"What?"

"I'm going to kiss you." I leaned in and lightly kissed her lips to make sure she wouldn't pull away.

"I'll talk to you later Mikey." She said with a big smile and walked into her house.

*At Home*

"I'm home!"

"How was the rest of the date?"

"You've known Maddie since pre-school?"

"Yeah. Great girl."

"Why didn't you say something?"

"Because I didn't want you to think I set this up, well got her to like you."

"Oh makes sense."

"I know."

"Where's hubby?"

"Luke? He went home. Liz has the flu."

"Ew sick people."

We both laughed. Ever since Dani and I were little we always got grossed out by sick people.

"Hey Mike?"

"Sup?" I said turning on the xbox.

"How come Ash has been really distant over the past few months?"

"Yeah he is just is busy.."

"With what?"

"Stuff.." I couldn't tell Dani the truth. Only I know what's going on with Ash and that's how it's going to stay until I'm told other wise.

"Oh ok?"

"Don't stress yourself out about it. He's fine."

"I'm sure I just don't like it when he keeps things from me. I thought we were closer than that."

"You're not his mom. He doesn't need to report to you." Now she is starting to piss me off.

"I'm just worried about him."

I can see where her concern is coming from but honestly she needs to relax.
