2 Weeks Later

Hayley's POV

We'd just wrapped up the monumentour and Chad and I decided to take a family vacation to New York.

Rider was fast asleep in the car and Chad was driving us to the airport. Our flight leaves at 9:00 and it was currently 8:00pm.

I thought a lot about what Rider said about the whole marriage thing and decided to talk about it.

"You wanna marry me one day, right?"

"Of course I do."

"When?"

"In good time," he chuckled.

"Chad we've been together six years," I said seriously.

"I dunno. Since my last marriage I guess I've just been put off the idea."

"You just contradicted yourself."

"What?"

"You said you wanted to marry me and then said you've been put off the idea. Chad what do you want?"

"You. I want you, babe."

"Really? If you really wanted me then you'd forget your last marriage."

"I can't really forget my marriage it was the biggest day of my life."

"Well then at least try not to bring it up infront of me. Do you not want to do marry again?"

"I dunno."

"Well tell me! You just told me that you did! You keep telling me different things, stop changing your mind!"

"You're gonna wake Rider."

There was a tense silence.

"I just don't wanna rush into anything. I rushed my last marriage and I ended up cheating on my wife with you."

"Are you trying to put the blame on me?"

"To be fair you did know I was a married man. And no I'm not trying to put the blame on you."

"Oh and when you say you don't wanna rush into anything, uhh we've been together six years and have adopted a child. Getting married soon isn't exactly gonna be rushed it'll be more delayed."

"I don't wanna talk about this right now, Hayley."

"Do you or do you not wanna spend the rest of your life with me?"

"Of course I do," he said, sounding as if he was losing his patience.

"Well that's married life for ya."

"There are people who have been together 50 years that have kids and grandkids and haven't got married."

"But I don't wanna be like that! Chad I want our love to be official!"

"Marriage is just a piece of paper. I learnt that the last time."

"You're thinking pessimisticly because that marriage didn't go so well. You rushed into it. We love eachother, it'll be better this time around."

"I need time."

"Time for what?! Time to realise that I'm not the one for you?!"

"Don't fight," Rider croaked.

I sighed. "We're not, baby."

"You are. I'm not stupid."

The rest of the drive was silent. When we arrived at the airport I got out of the car and slammed the door so hard that it made the car shake. I grabbed my luggage from the trunk and waited for the boys to get theirs.
