Flashback: The Enchanted Forest, the forests are filled with mist, a bloodcurdling wail slices open the silence and it is followed by more cries. After the loss of Arawn and Tala's child, Rumplestilskin arrives by trying to escape from a Banshee, but the Banshee followed Rumplestilskin. Than the Banshee blast the Light One and made him unconscious, than the Banshee rips out Tala's heart and crushes it, making Tala die as the Banshee flees. Arawn takes Tala in his arms and weeps as Rumplestilskin wakes up and pays his respects, Arawn blames Rumplestilskin for Tala's death. Years later, the two Fates, Nyx and Fiona, appears to Arawn and Nyx tempting him with an offer to join a group of magicians known as the Coven of Destiny. As Arawn accepted the offer, Nyx only had two spots left while going through a recruiting process. Nyx says she's hidden two strings of Fate somewhere in the forest and whoever brings her the strings will prove themselves worthy of joining the Coven. Nyx tells Arawn that he has to do the task alone, but he instead partners up with another recruit named Gothel. As the two bond over having to deal with the loss of a spouse, with Gothel revealing how her lover Noah had changed after the events of dealing with a harsh Queen but has never been the same since and has taken on a new identity. Both Arawn and Gothel comes across a fork in the road, the two agreed to separate then meet up. During this separation, Nyx appears to Arawn to reveal that the test was actually an elimination that determines eligibility into the Coven. Nyx wants Arawn to kill Gothel with a sai or tekpi type weapon but Arawn decided against it because of Nyx's true intentions. When Gothel returns, Arawn suggest that they form their own Coven in order to get what they wanted, but soon that idea is scratched when Gothel reveals the same weapon that Arawn had. It turns out Nyx had set them both up with orders to kill one another. The magicians soon fight each other but as Gothel was about to kill him, Arawn sends his weapon towards Gothel and he kills her instead. Nyx appears to Arawn, telling him that he has been accepted into the Coven of Destiny, but Arawn turns down of joining the Coven and puffs away in blood red cloud of smoke. End of flashback
