Chapter 7: Getting a closer look

Nikki's P.O.V
A feeling in my left cheek is what wakes me up. I peel my eyes open and see Nathaniel next to me poking my cheek with his finger. Seeing that I'm awake, he yells," sissy! you're awake! Shay Shay is downstairs, he told me to wake you up". I roll my eyes playfully. I sit up and look at my alarm clock, it's 7:00 a.m. I ruffle Nate's hair and say," thanks for waking me up Nate, tell Shane I'll be down in a minute". He nods and rushes out the door and downstairs. I get out of my bed and close the door. I yawn and have a good stretch, I feel both of my shoulders popping, ahh, that feels good.I walk into my bathroom and take a quick hot shower. I step out of my bathroom then  I walk to my closet and pick out what to wear. I choose to wear dark green tee shirt and black blue jeans. I put them on along with my gym shoes and pair of fingerless gloves.I go out my bedroom door and downstairs. Shane and Nate are at the kitchen table talking. Shane's skateboard is by his feet, he's wearing a dark blue tee shirt and blue jeans. He sees me and says,"hey, Nikki, you ready? I thought we could go out and get some ice cream with Nate?". I walk over to him and Nate and say," sure! let's go!". My mom hands both Shane  and I  some money and we all go out the door. Shane and I have our skateboards underneath our arms, Nate's hand is in mine. We're almost to the ice cream shop when we come up to large crowd in a circle gathered around something. Curious, we walk closer, and I see it. Quickly Shane covers Nate's eyes with his hands. I feel bile starting to come up my throat, but I force it down. The last thing I need is to freak out. But, then again, who the hell wouldn't freak out when they're seeing a man's dead body in the morning.
