My wife then told me she was coming back and walked away towards the mayor and the two chief cops. We both followed her, since I haven't greeted the city father yet. She greeted him and the two cops, giving Brian a slight hug, since she knew him to be my friend. The three men seemed to be impressed by her.
When I was greeting the mayor,Brian was busy passing comments about my wife. Saying I was one lucky bastard to have such a beautiful woman as my wife. She then told him it wasn't luck, it was our destiny that we married. I just laughed and everyone in our group reciprocated. That was the first time I saw the commander laughing.

The commander then announced they getting in to the mall to remove the dead bodies, the cocaine and ammunition. They had black gloves on their hands, together with all the cops who were around. They took their leave towards the entrance of the mall. Twelve cops in all, leaving some of the two from the capital guarding Bastion.

The two cops had assault rifles in their hands, pointing them in Bastion's direction. There was no escape. His body was slumbered in the stretcher, absorbing the heat that was coming from the sun above. We moved towards his stretcher with my wife and Melinda. I then told her he was the causer of all the troubles we have been through. She looked at Bastion and told us that she knew him. She had once seen him on the news, being reported wanted for bombing a government building .

So my wife knew him,why didn't I?Oh!I remembered, I had an allergy for local newspapers and the local television and radio stations . It was now time for a change. Why would I be so concerned about things that are happening in America and Europe, turning a blind eye to those happening around me?It wasn't right. It was a bad habit. A habit I was supposed to throw out the window.

My wife took hold of my hand, dragging me towards our parked vehicles, sternly telling me she was going to clean me right away, behind our cars. Before we could reach there, the Mayor called us and other notable noble residents of Raspberg who had also came to witness the disaster for themselves before they read about it in the newspapers or the news. Some were fellow business men and women. Whilst some were leaders of the residential suburbs in town and the farms that surrounded the town. Melinda was also there, beside my wife. The media guys were capturing the proceedings.

The Mayor began by saying his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished good luck to those who had been injured. He congratulated me and Melinda for our courageous feat against Bastion and his men. The mayor, then urged us all to contribute with the required help to the families who had lost their loved ones. I told them I was paying for the treatment of the injured men including those of Bastion. I didn't hold anything against Rambo or the other woman who had survived. I blamed Bastion and Bison for all the mess. They contributed a lot.

As we disperse from the meeting,we heard the Medicare choppers descending the mountains headed for the mall. They were now coming to take the last batch of the injured. Most of the injured had met their relatives who had came to see what had happened at the shopping mall the previous evening. The mayor had told them that, those so close to the injured men ,such a wives and guardians, were supposed to follow them to the capital the next morning in a bus that the local government was going to provide. I offered to give them accommodation since I have had with a number of houses in the capital. Some of them were not occupied. They were to visit their injured relatives in the Medicare hospital from there. Food and other amenities were to be provided by the local companies,as their contribution to the accident.

I will save them, all of them. That is what I told myself, when they had surrendered their hope in me. When we were still Bastion's hostages. Now,it wasn't the case though, some of them had died. I rendered them to be heroes. They deserved a hero burial,I was going to see to it that the government provide such to them. They had died defending their country from terrorism. President George Kalasah had to offer this to these men,as a consolation to their families they had left behind. Plus government welfare, for most of the dead men were their families bread winners. Their families looked up to them. They were the ones to bring food to the table, money to pay school fees and other bills. Their widows were howling and wailing outside the shopping mall entrance as the waited for their bodies to be brought out.

I looked at the time on my iPhone, and it was showing quarter to eleven in the morning. Time was moving,it never waited on anyone or anything. Moving towards the unknown future.
