~A week and a half later~
It's 7:00 in the morning on a Monday, the day I dread. My alarm clock wakes me up twenty minutes late and I rush to makeup the time. I dress myself in a lavender flowy tank top and jean shorts. I put on my light blue converse, eat, brush my teeth, pack my bag, and start to head out the door. I step with one foot on the wet grass when I remember.
I forgot my hat! I rush back inside my house which luckily I left unlocked. My black beanie is sitting on the table hanging off the edge. I grab it and shove it on my now bald head. The chemotherapy I'm going through is making me lose my hair so I have to wear a stupid hat everyday. Unfortunately my school doesn't allow hats so I need to reveal my disease to all my teachers so I get permission. I look in the mirror on my wall to see my reflection. I look absolutely terrible but I have no other choice. I run outside feeling a pain in my head.
The doctor had to do surgery on my head to see where the tumor was. On Thursday I'm skipping school so they can do surgery to remove it. I run to the bus stop and find that only a few people are there. Thank god I think. I see a boy start to look at me, glancing time after time. I give him a dirty look and he stops staring. The bus arrives a few minutes later. It's crowded and I feel several eyes on me. After I get to a seat in the back, I try to make myself invisible, like nobody will see me. I curl up into a little ball and bury my head. I hear a buzz, and hope it's Emmett. It's not, just my mom wishing me luck on my first day back.
I reply a thank you and a heart to show her I care. Emmett hasn't texted me at all after the incident. I don't want to bother him and be pushy or anything, so I'm keeping quiet. But what's wrong? I think to myself.
A little while later we enter the bus loop. I look out the window and see crowds of kids talking and chasing each other. I pull my beanie down lower. The bus comes to a complete stop and I stand up. People are still staring and my face blushes like a tomato. I start to walk off the bus feeling embarrassed. I hear whispers of my name as I speed walk to the front doors.
"Hey Sam!" A high pitched voice yells. A girl walks in front of me.
"Hi Camille!" I say and we embrace into a hug. Camille is my bestest friend in the whole wide world.
"How are you? You look so great! I'm so excited you're back! Please tell me they haven't been hurting you." She blabs.
"Don't worry Camille I'm fine." I say.
"Great, now that that's settled. How about I walk to class with you." She says.
"Ok!" I say. Maybe today won't be as bad as I thought. I mean, Camille is by my side I think. That's when I saw him.Cliffhanger!!!
