'I will write again,' I finished and signed the bottom , 'Ruth, P.S. I miss you, Grandpa' I put down my pencil, carefully folded the letter, and put it in the envelope.
"Mommy!" I look around wildly.
Many accidents have happened in the last couple of days such as fires, bombings, and sniper attacks.
"Mommy, look down." I felt someone tugging on my pant leg. "What is it, Lizzie?" I asked patiently. "Brian found a pretty necklace like the one that made a crater in the back yard yesterday." Lizzie said, her big eyes widened even further. "What! Did he touch it?"
"No, mommy. I tolds him not to." She grind toothily. "Good, keep it that way." I replied, as I took out my cell phone and quickly dialed my husband's number. All I got was his voicemail. I groaned in frustration and raced downstairs. Brian said frantically, "Mommy! Mommy! It's glowing!" I snatched it from his hands and ran to the back door. It blew up in midair after I threw it. I sighed, as a small explosion of black smoke greeted me as I turned around. "Jack," I said, gritting my teeth, " What did I say about minimizing the amount of smoke that erupts from your explosions?" Jack, my six-year-old son, looked up at me innocently. I turned, groaning.
Marietta slid down the spiral staircase, Carl, my three-year-old, stumbling after. "Marietta, please make dinner" I asked her tiredly. Brian set the table as my husband walked through the door (of course I mean through the doorway, how stupid do you think he is?). "Hi, Billy," I said, "Did you get the text?" "Yes I did," He replied, "I think we have something to talk about." After the kids went to bed, we sat down on the couch. "Honey, I think we'll need to you-know-what." He told me sadly. "But the kids like it here," I replied, "I don't want them to look back on this and be mad at us for ruining their lives." We eventually decided to do it anyway, though. It was better than the alternative.
