|place for us- mikky ekko|
Carl;
I swear my tongue hasn't seen food in days.
The rain stopped a few hours ago.
And all we collected is enough to fill up a few bottles.
We have water, but food is another thing.
But good doesn't seem needed when I'm holding hands with a beacon of hope.
Junipers matted, damp hair frames her face so it brings out the exhaustion in her eyes. Her lips are pink and chapped, and her face is covered in red splotches from the Sun's wrath.
I turn my head to face in front of us as I pull the tired girl to my side. She unravels our fingers as she flops a hand over my shoulder and mine around her waist.
She's thin and she's tired. She wants to stop but there's no where seemingly safe. This entire city is a deserted wasteland governed by the undead and civilized by rotting flesh.
I look up to the pulsing summer sun drying up our clothes absorbing our last attempt to stay cool.
"Carl?" A voice interrupts my thoughts, alerting me more of my surroundings.
We've entered a neighborhood, not a walker in sight and as dry as a bone despite the past precipitation.
"Yes?" I respond to the girl hanging on my shoulders.
"We've gotta stop. My skin is not a skillet."
"Come on babe, just a little further."
Juniper loops her frail arm off my shoulder and stands her ground behind me.
"Carl, I'm thirsty, I'm tired, I haven't eaten in three days now. Neither have you. Can't we just crash in one of these houses here?"
Before I could answer her question, nearby rustling catches us off guard.
"Carl,-"
"Sh..."
I pull my gun out of my holster and start trudging silently towards the rustling.
"Carl, it's probably just a walker." June whispers from behind me.
"Sh, Juniper. If it was a walker it would still be making noise." I turn back around and see a knocked down trash bin on the side of one of the houses. "Come out where I can see you!" I say, making sure my voice sounds threatening and stern.
There's more rustling, then a man about 30 or 40 emerges from behind the waste.
{BRAD PITT}
"Kid-"
"Shut up, what do you want?"
"Can you put the gun down first?" He asks.
I keep my gaze hard on him, my eye flickers down to the weapon in my hands and back up to the man.
"I said what do you want? Don't answer and I will not hesitate to shoot you."
"Damn," the man says while looking at the right side of my face. "You got fucked up good."
A ripple of agitation flows through my body and I cock my head to the left.
"Spit it out,"
"Well, my names Nathan. And I've been watching you two-"
"What the hell, man?" Juniper's voice from behind me strikes in the conversation.
"Anyway, I have a place. We've got food, semi-running water, medicine and we're working on electricity. You two have looking like you've been having a rough time out here and you've been looking for a place to crash so, why don't you come to our place?"
"How should we trust you?" I spit at the man, he's already made his grimy little way onto my bad side.
"How clean do I look to you, kid?"
The mans appearance never stood out to me until now, his hair reaches his chin but seems clean and nicely combed and his face looks freshly shaved, his clothes seem clean and his skin radiates a healthy glow.
He's not lying.
I turn around to June to receive her approval, she glares at me and slyly shakes her head no.
The look of the girls thin figure and sinking eyes gets me. My heart sinks at how loose her clothes frame her body. She needs this, I need this.
"We'll go."
