Rejecting Royalty

Chapter 8

Previously:

We turned to the left, I found myself walking into a huge wall.

"Oops! I'm so sorry!" I apologized quickly, looking up to the person.

"Sam?" I asked, disbelief laced throughout my voice.

"Vanessa! What are you doing here? I've been looking all over for you! Everyone back home are all so worried! You even left Nick all by himself! You know how worried he is?"

Christina looked at me curiously. "Why is he calling you Vanessa, Thea?"

Present:

I stared at the faces of my friends and somebody that I knew, or at least I did.

"Well?" Christina asked impatiently.

"Well you see, um Sam is from the Twin Peak pack and he-"

"Isn't that your old pack?" Christina butted in. In my head I was yelling at her not to ask anymore questions and tried staring at her hard, hoping that my mind message would get through.

"What do you mean old pack?" Sam frowned. "She's been with the Twin Peak pack for a couple of years, well that was until she suddenly disappeared..." He expected me to give him the answers but I didn't say anything.

'Alright calm down' I thought 'This is where all my years of lying and deception helps.'

"Well guys," I faced my two new great and hopefully gullible friends. "I was in the the Twin Peak pack but as you know, I transferred into yours."

"What do you mean transfer?" Sam's frowning voice interrupted.

"Sam, I'm your best friend and I really didn't want to leave but I had to!" I exclaimed.

His face softened and he patted my head. "Hey it's alright. You know what? There's this gelato shop that just popped up around the corner. Maybe you want to check it out?"

I gave him a grateful smile, he always knew what to do. It has been ages since I saw him. Back when I was in the Twin Peak pack, he and I were best friends, and he was one of the only people who really got me, but of course Josh still forbid to me to tell him my royalty secret.

'Oh and if you do, I'm going to personally make sure that the person will never see sunlight again and put him in a place so far away not even I will be able to find him.' I heard Josh's voice interrupt my thoughts. 'Oh screw you!' I replied and blocked him out.

I spent in total, 4 years in the Twin Peak pack and that was the longest I had ever stayed in one place before. I literally ran into Sam on the first day of school and we were thick as thieves, always less than a footstep behind each other, well that was until I left and of course Nick.

Nick. Had it only been a couple of days since I last saw all my friends? It felt like years.

Nick and I were... well complicated. We dated for a couple months and but then we broke up because he could sense that I was hiding something from him. At first he let it go, but he soon got curious of what could be so important that I had to keep from him so he kept bringing it up. We got into this huge argument and ended up "taking a break". It was killing me not to tell him but I knew if I did, that might end up having him dead. He still had feelings for me as I did him, but now I'm not so sure anymore. I'm not sure about anything anymore actually. I left a week after.
