"Skylar James, will you be my girlfriend?"

I look at Alec with a 'what the hell' face and he pulls me aside.

"Skylar you promised me you would say yes to anything I asked you. Just agree to be my girlfriend and I'll explain why later."

"What's in it for me?" I'm not signing a deal with the devil without getting personal benefit.

"Well besides for getting the huge honor to date the hottest guy in school," I stuck my tongue out at Alec, but he ignored me," I'll let you have complete control over anything I do for a day."

"Anything?" This time I was the one who was smirking. I could feel the wheels in my head start to turn.

"Anything," he said with a wink. He thought I had something dirty in mind, but little did he know his ego was the only thing of his that would be touched by me.

"Ok. Deal." I stuck my hand out and Alex shook it and we went back into his bedroom.

"So... What happened? Did she say yes?" I glared at Ryder. He was making it seem like Alec had proposed to me.

"Yup. We're officially a couple!"

"Congrats dude," Theo said, fist bumping Alec.

"Welcome to our psychotic group of friends, Skylar." Ryder then gave me a hug that was so tight that, if it was the 1800s, I wouldn't need a corset.

"Can't...breathe," I rasped at Ryder.

"Sorry Sky. I'm just so excited that Alec has finally gotten someone to hang out with so we can be off the hook." All the boys, minus Alec, started laughing until he jumped on them and they started wrestling.

I was glad they were distracted so I could leave. I was still processing what just happened.

I was dating Alec Thompson.

Wait till I told Lily!

When I told Lily, she insisted that we had a girl's night so we could talk about what to do and I agreed.

"Mom!" I had to find my mother to tell her about my plans. "Mom! You here?"

"Mom's not home. Her and dad went to California to hang out with Uncle Jay and Aunt Tamara."

Tamara and Jay Adler weren't actually my aunt and uncle. Tamara had been best friends with my mother growing up and they had stayed close. Once or twice a year my parents would take off of work for two weeks and go to the Adler's house in Southern California and a few times a year, they would come here.

When my parents went away, we always had lots of fun. Kate usually came if it wasn't exam week and sometimes she'd bring her boyfriend of three years, Zach.

"Josh, is Kate coming?"

"Nope because I'm already here!" I felt a hug and turned around to hug Kate back.

"Kate, you cut your hair. I love it!" Kate, just like me and Josh, had ebony wavy hair that she had grown out since high school. She wanted to donate her hair for kids who had cancer.

My grandfather used to always joke that you could tell who a James was by our dark hair. Although all the kids in my family had the same hair, our eyes were all different. Kate's eyes were chocolatey brown, Josh's were a pale blue like my mother, and mine were hazel.

"So since you're in charge, can I go to Lily's house for the night?" I asked Kate since she was now in charge. 

"What? You don't want to hang out with me tonight?" she joked

I laughed with Kate at her fake offense. She was a terrible actresses and it ran in the family. Even the school play in elementary school which let everyone join the school play, specially turned the James down.

"But seriously, you can go. Zach's here, he just went to get some pizza after the drive."

Around 7 pm, after dinner with Kate, Zach, and Josh, I headed to Lily's house.

I knocked on her door and, before I could knock again, the door swung open.

"Skylar Mackenzie James, you better tell me everything that happened!" Lily shrilled.

"Oh thanks for inviting me in, Lily. No I don't want a drink, but thanks for the offer."  Lily rolled her eyes at me and I laughed.

"You know that you don't have to be welcomed in because you're always welcomed here."

"Aw. So sweet of you. Now let's go!" This time I was the one dragging Lily up her steps to her room.

Lily's parents were both doctors and worked the night shifts so they were rarely home at night which worked out well when I slept over

Once we were settled in her room with popcorn and the tv playing with the volume muted, I told her everything that had happened in more detail than before.

"Why do you think he wants to be your boyfriend? You've barely spoken to him before and now he claims he wants to date you."

I had been wondering the same thing. I found it extremely strange that Alec had asked me to be his girlfriend and I couldn't wait until he explained his reasons.

"I'm not sure. I assume it's for a dare, but I'm going to play along with him."

"Why don't we make our own contest? When he's trying to make you fall for him, make him fall for you. Let's make him fail at him own game!"

"Let's do it! Also, Alec's giving me a day when I can do whatever I want to him and I have a plan."

I whisper my plan to Lily and by the time I'm done, she has an evil look on her face.

"I love it!"

The rest of the night we planned how to get Alec to fall for me and I couldn't wait to get started!
