I loose myself in his voice. His voice is like none I've ever heard. It's strong, smooth, and unwavering. He finishes the first song and I ask him to keep going. I lean me head onto his shoulder and he sings I don't know how many songs.
Next thing I know I'm lying on the blanket with my head on his lap. He's fiddling with my hair and I'm watching the stars. His hands go still and I lean up to a sitting position.
"I had an amazing time tonight Eric. Thank you so much."
He starts to tell me how "oh it was nothing" but I stop his lips with a kiss. He takes me face in his hands and pulls me close. We hold this little kiss out for a long time until he pulls away. I look into those eyes again before he puts his lips to mine. When he finally pulls away the second time I keep my forehead on his.
"I love you. I love you Sunny." He tilts his head to look at me. "I know those words are used all the time and they seem to have almost no meaning any more but I am in love with you." He lets those last few words hang in the air a little while until I figure out how to respond.
"Eric, I know that this relationship may seem complicated and that yes I have choice to make. I have to be true to myself and I realize that. But there is one thing that I know for sure. I love you. I love you. I know that at sixteen years old we shouldn't know what love feels like but I've decided that I now exactly what love feels like. I know when look into your eyes. I know I'm in love with you."
