Lance Academy Vol. 1: Fate

Arrival - Ava Rose

I stepped off the bus and stared up at the mind-blowing castle before me. I was bused in on one of the academy's many charter buses from the airport. There wasn't many students on my bus and most of them were upperclassmen in the University getting to the campus early.

"Welcome to Lance Academy!" I turned to see a bright-eyed girl with some kind of tablet talking to me. "My name is Maria Cara, I'm a senior at the University here, and head of the welcome committee. Can I get your first and middle name please?"

"Uh, Ava Rose Trinity...But why not my last name?" I asked curious. What kind of school doesn't ask for last names?

"We don't use last names, middle name are so much more fun and personal. Let's get your luggage."

We walked over to the luggage compartment and I pulled my bags out. She reached into the bag she had over her shoulder and produced some tags which she put on my bags and scanned them with a scanner. "Ok, so they'll be delivered to your room during the welcome assembly. Now, just go ahead and go into Myer Hall, which is where assemblies, class meetings, and stuff like that will take place, and you'll get all of your welcome information."

She pointed me in the right direction and I walked in to find a lot of tables set up and students everywhere. I walked over to th table labeled: PACKET PICK-UP.

"Hi, welcome to Lance. Name?"

"Ava Rose Trinity." I told the guy manning the table. He flipped through some packets before handing me a really thick one with my name printed on it.

"Ok, so inside you'll find your room information, class schedule, eating lines, rules and guidelines, lists of extracurricular activities, and so on and so forth. Now, go and get your student id, mentor information, uniform fittings, and student Lance Pad. You'll find everything at the various labeled tables."

I walked off and go tmy student id which was a card with my picture, name, and barcode on it, haning on a lanyard. Then I got fitted for my uniform which they said would be sent to my room tomorrow. My 'Lance Pad' was the same tablet thing Maria Cara was using. I was pretty neat and they said my mentor would teach me to use it.

I finally made my way to the mentor table and go the name of my mentor, Sally Sylvia. I was told she would find me after the assembly. By the time I had everything the Welcome Assembly was about to start so I went inside and found a seat.
