Lily's POV:
The week that passed was the best week of my life. We loved each other, yes, we didn't say those words, but those weren''t needed. He lived his dreams in my arms, and in his, I lived mine. We played the charade of being pregnant to the hilt. But, that was private, only when we were alone in our house.
He took me and introduced me to his team in the offices next door. I loved each and every one of them, just as they loved me. They were amazing, open and fun. Not one blanched when I told them my age, but when Rumi blurted my father's name, everyone stared in horror. It was as if by being with me, Liam had committed the highest treason known possible and they had begun to constantly keep a check on all surveillance around us. SO terrified were they that they hid all evidence of our wedding in Vegas, it was legal, but documents were hidden, infact, they removed all evidence that Liam has even been to Vegas when I had, that included- and they should me how- deleting all surveillance footage of Liam and Liam and me in Vegas.
Their technology was unparalleled and they thought me a bit too. I enjoyed loitering around when they worked, they didn't shy about showing me what was happening- especially after I managed to describe a few of Liam's pursuits accurately. They understood about my connection with Liam, they didn't question it, they weren't even skeptical once I could prove it.
Infact, they begun showing me how to keep a track on my hubby and what was happening around. Although nothing they told me would be dangerous to me or them if any of it leaked, it till felt nice to be included. In return, I cooked for all twenty of them and every night, we would have a campfire lit in the deep valley and have fun.
I had become firm Friends with a few women here, we had even exchanged our civilian numbers, as they had called it and had promised to stay in touch. Soniya and Mary were my new friends along with Rumi. We did girl talk when they were free. It was like living at an army base, albeit smaller. Being an army wife was an amazing experience. I simply loved the atmosphere around.
Yes it was a war- like situation for them, they were preparing for a silent war, but as they explained to me, this was had been ongoing for more than two decades now. They lived just like that. Liam would be flying into his battle with 5 of these men and women, the remaining 5 would fly till the next base port with them and the balance ten would be staying back to work as ground officers. They would remotely handle all situations.
It scared me, knowing Liam was going, but I understood that he would, so I simply made his week worthwhile. I loved him, morning evening and night, so much so that he told me he would be addicted and without me, would begin to experience withdrawl sypmtoms. I laughed and told him, so would I. We cooked together, especially breakfast, that was our private time. He loved rubbing my tummy, talking sweet nonsense to it. We had agreed to name our baby Natalia/ Lilian, Zoey/
well, we couldn't agree on a name, hence we have promised to write down all the names and choose from a raffle. Which, if I may say so, we never got around to doing, hence, my baby's name, well, for want of a name... we nicknamed her angel.
Today was the last day of my week with hubby. Tomorrow morning, I would be driven by Rumi after Liam and his team flew away. The camp was quite, everyone was with their partners, or preparing to leave. The levity of last week had vanished, it was instead, placed with determination and tension. Determination to succeed, and tension cause no one really knew who would return. They had assured me that apart from one person, no one had lost their life in this unit. The only person who had, had been my family's guard and he had been killed before my family attacked. Liam had explained the last part, hating to keep it from me.
He had gone for a briefing, some kind of conference call that I wasn't allowed to hear, hence I was in our cabin, cleaning it up, packing my stuff that had mysteriously found places to settle in our home. As per Liam's requests, I had packed a knapsack of his clothes as well. "Only clothes", he had requested.:" Please make sure there is no paper of any sort in them." the seriousness of the trip had begun to sunk in. He would not be leaving as a soldier, but as an undercover agent, a kind of person who wouldn't have a government record of any exit or entry into this or another country. I shuddered to even think of the consequences if anything went wrong.
