When I woke up, all I felt was extreme pain beyond belief. Worse than any creature had done to me before. A blanket was covering me, which I regret taking off. It seemed like my whole body was bandaged, my legs, my chest, and bits of both arms. Not wanting to figure out what was under all of the bandages I quickly covered myself back up.
Looking around I saw the sun shining through my window. Assuming by the position of the sunlight I guessed it was around late morning. 'How long had I been out?' I thought, the pain particularly in my legs and chest stinging like hell.
I grabbed my side which only resulted to make more pain. A violent coughing fit followed, making my lungs flare in misery. I could feel the gauze around my chest already getting wet from blood. I obviously had re-opened it from the coughing. That is, if the blood in my body even clotted while I was out. But then again if it didn't I would already be dead if that was case. But who's to say I'm not dead and all of this is just an elaborate illusion?
My loud uproar must had alerted my housemate that I had awoken, because he rushed into my room like a lightning bolt. "Your finally awake!" He said happily before he saw the blood all over my bandages. "How long was I out for?" I asked him between coughs. "About a week and a half" he said, digging in a drawer for something. "A week and a half!?" I said shocked, choking on a bit of blood in the meantime. When he found what he was looking for he drew a chair close and sat next to me.
"I didn't think you were going to make it honestly. I ran off from the window to go get a sniper rifle after having discovered where you kept all of your weapons recently. So I loaded it up and went to the roof, shooting the hound to death..." He paused for a second, opening his mouth and then shutting it again, like he was hesitating to say something.
"That's...when I saw you fall out of the creature's mouth, so I quickly jumped off the roof and ran over to you as fast as I could. You were semi-consious and bleeding terribly. The dog crushed you rib cage and punched a hole in your lung. I carried you in here as quickly as and immediately began to operate. Even though with what terrible damage that mutt did and insane amount of blood I had to get through to stitch up the inside of you and your skin," He tapped my chest, signaling where my stitches were. "You managed to slowly recover...but you didn't wake up... I started to believe that you may had gone into a comatose..."
Upon seeing his worried face I knew I had to do something. "Hey, but I'm alive and here now thanks to you." That made him laugh more fake sounding than real. "Yah I guess so" He took my hand without hesitation and to trace all of the lines on it. Was he really still amused with my hand? I honestly thought the excitement of it would have worn of by now.
"You know" he said silently, letting go of my hand. "I know you've noticed my right eye is grey... I've seen you stare at it before." He added. "That was actually one of the first things I noticed about you." I gave a nervous smile, not knowing what he would think. "I just didn't want to be rude and ask about it"
"I'm completely blind in this eye" he said, covering it. "I can remeber one thing about me and that's that I'm a freak to humanity, I always have and I always will be, diffrent and separated from humanity. That's why try to cover it up with my hair, but obviously that dosent work" he sighed, looking out the window. "I guess we're both freaks" I said wiggling my fingers. "I guess so" He smiled. "Freaks Forever" He laughed, getting up. "Now, I'm afraid you may have opened your wound. I'm going to have to check it." His tone changed to ice.
"Just as I thought," he said after taking off all of the gauze "The stitches tore." Great. Just great. "Looks like I have to stit-" I interrupted him from his sentence, not wanting to hear the rest. "NO!...." I yelled. "...I'm sorry, I mean no thank you. I can do it myself. But thank you for your concern." His face turned to a frown. He obviously wasn't pleased. "You can't do this yourself!" He yelled "Not with the condition you're in" I still shook my head no.
"I can do it. I'm perfectly capable of doing it myself, I thank you for saving me but I can do it myself now" I winced at the searing pain in my chest as I reached for the needle that was on the nightstand next to my bed. I tried to cover the pain up as best as I could by ignoring it. But that just seemed to be making it worse. I knocked the needle down by accident and it fell to the floor, the room quiet enough to hear the 'tink'of the metal hitting the floor.
'Shit' I was the only thought that came to mind. I heard him growl a bit in his throat and give me a dirty look. He grabbed the needle off the ground and didn't hand it to me when I held my hand out. "No, for heavens sake You aren't in any shape for this-" I interrupted him again. "Please, just give me the needle." I asked. Saying it a little bit more rude than intended.
"I said NO DAMN IT!" He yelled in rage, making me jump. "YOU STUBBORN ASS MAN. ALL I WANT TO DO IS HELP YOU LIKE YOU'VE HELPED ME. CAN'T YOU AT LEAST LET ME DO THIS ONE DAMN THING SO I DONT HAVE TO WATCH THE MAN WHO SAVED ME DIE RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY EYES!" He panted with rage and his body trembled like he was in a snow storm, that's when I knew that I had pushed it to far.
I finally just let him do what he wanted to do, but was not very happy or thrilled of the whole idea. It made me very anxious, afraid that he was going to mess up. At least if I would have done it then I wouldn't make any mistakes. We didn't talk at all while he was stitching me up. I could tell by the expression on his face that he was still angry, so i didn't dare mumble a word.
After he was done he wrapped gauze around my chest once again he left the room silently without a word. The pain in both my legs and chest were forgotten at the moment, the realization of how much this guy really cared about me was overwhelming.
"All I want to do is to help you like you've helped me"
