She stripped off her black tank top and grey shorts. She glanced at herself in the mirror and shook her head. All she saw was a small, skinny little lynx who was scared of a nightmare. Angry thoughts ran through her head; what kind of big cat was she, scared of nightmares and having so many panic attacks. Amy stepped into the ceramic shower, dragging the curtains closed behind her.
Hot water soaked through her tan and light brown fur, steam swirling around her. She scrubbed her hair, her claws massaging her scalp. She scoured her body with soap and a washcloth until she felt completely clean. The water turned off with a small squeak and Amy reached a wet paw out, feeling for the towel she had laid on the toilet beside the shower. As she wrapped the towel tightly around her body she stepped out of the shower and started towards her bedroom. As she opened her bedroom door she heard a car engine nearby. "What the heck?" she grunted.
The lynx looked out of her window, pulling aside her curtains. There it was, a green car coming down the dirt road that went by her house. She shook her head and quickly let the curtains fall back as a large orange tiger stepped out of his old 1960's Impala. She should have known, of course Griff would come and check on her. She quickly threw on a white v-neck t-shirt and a pair of light grey sweatpants. She hurried out of her room and into the hallway.
She came around the corner and skidded on the wooden floor. She ran to the door as she heard a heavy knock coming from the other side. She couldn't stop quickly enough and accidentally slammed into the solid cherry wood door. There was a dull thudding sound as she fell onto her bobbed tail on the floor. "You okay in there Amy?" Griff's voice sounded through the door.
"Yeah!" Amy shouted back as she scrambled to her paws. She unlocked the deadbolt, rubbing her sore tail-end, and opened the door to see Griff standing there with a worried expression. "What was that?" He asked. Amy felt her face flush and she stammered. "I uh... I came around the corner too fast and hit the door." Griff laughed and hugged Amy in a strong embrace. "As clumsy as always I see."
Amy laughed along with him and gave a quick hug back. "Well, it doesn't help that you caught me coming out of a shower." Griff gave her an apologetic look. "I'm sorry. I didn't know you planned to get a shower, I just knew you were probably not telling the truth when you said you were going back to bed."
