A Strange Call

Amy was back at her house, drinking a glass of water and de-feathering her catch. She had gotten a turkey and two chickens, a small catch, but she had gone out earlier than usual. Her phone lay out on the counter, having been taken out earlier so Amy could check her messages. She never took her phone with her when she went out hunting, it might go off and scare the animals away.

There had been nothing. Amy's phone binged and flashed a bright light. The lynx looked down at her phone, it was a text from Griff. "I fixed the guy up, it was just a pulled muscle. I told him to take it easy and to make sure to put an ice pack on it for a half hour before going to sleep each night." Amy smiled and typed her response. "Looks like you're helping the world one injured gym person at a time."

A series of dots appeared at the bottom of the screen and Amy waited for Griff's response. "Guess so. How are ya' doin' Amivo?" Amy grinned and shook her head at the strange nickname that Griff had given her awhile back. She had been interested in science and had been doing lots of research on cells and, more specifically, amoebas. He thought it would be clever to mash part of her first and last name, and ameoba, resulting in Amivo.

"Good. I found a strange scent and pawprint out in the woods this morning though." The phone was silent and still for so long that Amy locked the screen and continued her work of plucking feathers from the birds. Suddenly there was a blaring sound of ear-busting music. Amy cringed and her ears flicked in protest.

She looked down at her phone and felt a flash of surprise. She didn't recognize the number, but it would probably be a good idea to answer anyway. She slid her finger across the screen and held the device up to her ear. "Hello?" She asked. She asked. The phone was silent for what seemed like ages. Then a voice on the other end spoke, the voice so icy and smooth it sent shivers down Amy's spine.

"I would ask for you to back off but you probably won't so.. I say this, for your own good I would stifle that obnoxious curiosity of yours." Amy cleared her throat and spoke clearly to the strange voice. "Excuse me, but who is this? What right do you have to threaten me like this?" The voice lapsed into cold, pensive silence.

"Let's just say I'm someone who knows everything about you, especially that little secret you love to keep hidden from that muscley tiger. You don't oblige to my commands and you might find yourself in a very uncomfortable position of your little boyfriend knowing more about you then I'm sure you want; you will also have a very dangerous enemy trying to hurt you."
