Amy fought the anger roaring inside her, how dare that other person threaten her! And to say that Griff is her boyfriend! They were close friends no doubt, but there was no romance in their relationship. Amy replied curtly, her voice stiff with anger. "I have no idea what you're telling me to back off of, and I'm not going to take orders from a voice over a phone either. Goodbye." Amy clicked a button on her phone and ended the call. The screen cleared and she saw that she had received another text from Griff.
"Sorry, I was driving through an area with bad reception and I couldn't get a text to send. What do you mean strange? Was it something you hadn't seen before, or was there something strange about the print itself, like an abnormality or something?" Amy shook her head in frustration, she didn't know how to explain what had just happened over the phone. And if that voice knew about Griff... she couldn't meet him here at her house, nor could she meet him out somewhere downtown.
Making up her mind, Amy just replied, "It's kinda hard to explain, could I meet you somewhere?" Griff texted back instantly. "Of course, where at?" Amy pondered for a moment. "Could I maybe come over to your house?" Yes, that was the best place to meet him, that voice couldn't know where he lives. It seemed much more interested in her than in Griff. Amy wanted to keep it that way and to allow the voice to think that their relationship was purely romantic. That way it couldn't tell how close of friends they actually were, like brother and sister. Amy shook her head, clearing it of the worried thoughts. She looked down at her phone to see Griff typing his response.
"Sure. I don't think you've been over here before, so I'll come and pick you up." Amy typed her response quickly, her fingers flying across the screen, her claws clicking. "No that's ok, you can just send me directions. I haven't driven in awhile, it'll do me some good." Amy bit her lip anxiously, the first part wasn't necessarily true, she driven out to the Farmer's Market this last Saturday. Although it wasn't close to the town by any means, Griff still might have seen her. An emotion gnawed at her belly, and Amy recognized the familiar feeling of anxiety and fear. The responding text came quickly and she had the feeling that she had possibly injured Griff's feelings.
She shrugged and read the reply, he would understand once she explained her situation to him. "Alright, yeah go ahead. The address is 70651 Glevaughn Creek. You follow old 1659 until you hit the Glevaughn branch of the creek, then take a right and follow it for a 16th of a mile. You'll come straight up to the house, I'll be out on the porch to wave you down." Amy clicked her phone locked and grabbed her plaid jacket she had set on the back of the chair beside her. She checked the pockets, running her fingers of the sewn-in pockets on the inside of the jacket. She slid it over her shoulders and stuck her hand in one of the pockets, pulling free a box of bullets the size of a matchbox. She carefully unlatched the box and traced her fingers smoothly over the bullets, checking that they were all there.
Then patted her jacket feeling to make sure she left the Glock 27 where it was supposed to be, and felt the handle of the 12 Bowie she kept in her pockets as well. She pulled the knife out of her pocket and ran her fingers over it, watching the sunlight glint of the full iron blade. Most Bowies were stainless steel, but Amy had simply asked for a favor from someone who made them and he easily made it iron for her. She slid the knife into the leather sheath that was attached to her belt. It would probably be better under the circumstances to have the knife within easier reach. She grabbed her 12 barrel and walked out the door, turning and locking it as she went.
