"Ready, Rach?" My best friend Chelsea sprung into the bathroom, where I was coating my eyelashes with mascara. She cheekily poked my sides and giggled to herself, excited for tonight.

"Ready as ever, babe." I chuckled, closing up my mascara and turning back around to exit the bathroom with Chelsea by my side.

"I'm so excited, you have no idea!" She beamed as I slipped on my black boots.

"Same here!"I flipped my hair of my shoulder, opening the front door, grabbing Chelsea's wrist and lugging her out of our apartment. She reached to shut the door behind us and we started skipping down the long hallways, heading to the elevator.

"It feels like we haven't been to a party in ages." Chelsea sighed as she pressed the elevator button.

"Well, all we've been doing since we got back from LA is sleeping, so yeah, it has been a while since we've been into town." I smiled at her, entering the elevator as it arrived and the doors separated.

The both of us huddled in the corner of the small space, some other residents of the apartment complex piling in. A man in a tux walked in, smiling kindly at us before plugging his head phones in. We ignored him, sticking our tongues out at each other in silence.

----------

"This is so cool!" Chelsea exclaimed, gripping onto my arm. The space of the party was amazing. We were on the rooftop of an office building in the city, the sky a dark navy and the rest of the city lighting up our surroundings. There was a DJ set up on the far side of the rooftop, but aside from that, the place was just cluttered with people.

"We gotta look for Mikey, he texted me saying he was here already." I spoke to Chelsea, my words muffled by Pause by Plain White T's playing over me.

Michael was the one that invited us. He was a good friend of mine, in fact we were so close he was essentially my brother. He lived in the heart of the city, and that suited him perfectly. Mikey was always the life of the party, and always busy. And with Chelsea and I being in LA for the last two weeks, I hadn't seen him in a while.

"Look who it is, my two favourite girlies." A voice called behind us, a pair of arms slinking over our shoulders. As soon as I inhaled the person's scent, I recognised it as Michael. I burrowed my head into the crook of his neck and embraced him into a side hug.

"I've missed ya, brother." I smiled contently.

"Aw, Rachel. I've missed you more! But look, isn't this party insane?"

I broke away from his warm embrace, as did Chelsea.

"Oh hell yes, I can't wait to get on that dance floor!" Chelsea buzzes.

"Well what are you waiting for, ladies? Get out there!" Michael pushed us away from him, letting us stumble into the space that seemed like the dancefloor.

It didn't take very long for the music to sync with my beating heart, and already I was lost in the music.
