[ Chapter 1 - Portkeys and Whispers ]

Harry and I strolled along the streets in Diagon Alley, as I took in the sights of the colourful signs and laughing children.

The battle was over last year, and it was now March. Everything and everyone was relaxed.

But not me.

Everywhere I went, people would point at me (Harry as well) and whisper.

Sometimes, "Look, there's the Wandless Warrior."

Other times, "It's Malfoy. She should be a filthy Death Eater like the rest of her family."

I pretended not to hear them. They actually got worse when Harry was walking with me. They said that I shouldn't be friends with him, because I'm a supposed Death Eater or something. The nerve of some people, I swear.

Something touched my shoulder. I glanced at Harry, who had a concerned look on his face.

"Calli, you okay?"

I smiled. "I'm fine, well, as fine as one can be, I suppose."

"That's not very reassuring, but I'll take that." Harry shook his head fondly, and we continued walking.

There were a lot of people here, some throwing me glares, and some giving me a smile as I passed them.

"I'm surprised you haven't mentioned it yet." I said, deciding to turn my attention to Harry instead of random people I didn't know.

"Mentioned what?"

"Oh, don't act so innocent, Harry." I stopped at the side of the alley, next to Ollivander's. "We both know the whole reason you suggested we hang out was to talk me out of it."

"Sometimes I swear you're too smart." He chuckled. "Fine. Since you brought it up, are you sure about this? Moving to a whole other continent?"

"Very sure." I brushed back some of my hair from falling into my face. "It's better for me to leave, I don't want to live here, where everyone knows me, or my brother. It's.. stressful to say the least. Draco has it even worse. I've heard some people actually tried hexing him on the street. It's not safe here anymore."

"Some people just can't leave things in the past." He sighed, and ruffled my hair. "I guess I can't stop you, hmm?"

"How many times have I told you to leave my hair alone?" I scowled, and tried smoothing my hair back. "Anyway, you can come visit, if you want." I suggested. "Just dress normally though."

We both shared a smile. Once when I visited Harry at his house I was wearing typical wizard robes. Everybody there looked at me weird and one of them even asked me whether I want to go to an asylum. Whatever that was.

"I will alright." He said. "Oh, and owl me loads of mail."

"I'm not sure how intercontinental mail works, but okay. You'll be drowning in mail before you know it." I grinned at him.

"I'm going to miss you." Then he smiled mockingly. "Even if you have a terrible sense of humour."

I smacked his shoulder. "Oi, that's mean! My humour is amazing!"

"Sure it is." He grinned. "I'll see you soon."

I hesitated, but eventually pulled him into a hug. "Bye for now, Harry."

"Bye for now, Calli." He smiled warmly, as I stepped away.

I gave him one last wave before I apparated away. My insides felt like it was being squeezed into a tiny tube. I felt really glad I didn't eat any lunch.

I found myself in front of Malfoy Manor. I cautiously went inside, bad memories still haunting my mind. I didn't see this place as home anymore, not after what happened.

"Callista."

"Hello mother." She stood at the doorway of our living room, looking as regal as ever. But I knew she was sad, behind that cold facade of hers.

And sure enough, it faded, and her motherly face that she only showed to Draco and I appeared.

"Callista, darling." She walked over to me and gave me a hug. "It's been so long since you've been back here."

"Yes, it has." I gave a tight smile as we pulled apart, not really wanting to remember why.

"And now you're moving away from Britain, hmm?"

I nodded. "Yes, I feel that it's the best decision for me and Draco. The Ministry has approved it as well." I didn't mention the fact that the Ministry only allowed it under one condition.

"It's actually 'Draco and I' dear sister." A familiar mocking voice interrupted our touching moment.

"Hello to you too, dear twin brother." I said in the same tone as him.

"I see you've missed me." I glanced at the doorway mother just came from, to see Draco. His blond hair that was the same shade of mine was combed back, and his appearance was neat. He wore a Muggle long sleeved short and jeans. His grey eyes were the same as usual, cold, reflecting my own, but I knew my brother, and I could tell he was nervous.

We haven't actually talked to each other in a while. The last time I did, was to tell him I was going to drag him with me to New York whether he liked it or not.

After that encounter I just gave him a nod and apparated away.

Now he looked like he was either going to run away or hug me, as he came closer. I didn't blame him, our relationship was pretty strained the last two years.

I gave a reassuring smile. "Come here you little git." I opened my arms and hugged him.

I heard him breathe a sigh of relief before hugging me back.

"Thank you, Calli."

Pulling back, I grinned at him. "It's fine. We're fine, yeah?"

He grinned back. "Always."

"Are you done packing?" I asked, pulling out an old hairpin that the Ministry gave me. It was the Portkey that would take us to our new home.

"Yeah, I'm done." He then pulled out his wand and waved it, before a black suitcase came flying down the stairs.

"Are you really leaving now?" Mother asked, her eyes shining with unshed tears. "Your father won't be here until later tonight."

"Yes, mother, we have to go now." I said softly. "Say goodbye to father for us please?"

She nodded. "Of course. I will tell him when he is back."

"Thank you. We should go now, before our Portkey disappears without us."

Mum hesitated at my answer before giving me a silver necklace. I raised my eyebrows but accepted it anyway.

"What's this?"

"Your father wanted to give this to you when you were of age." Mum said. "We're a bit late, but here it is."

The necklace's chain was silver and hanging from it was a pale green diamond. A silver snake with dark grey eyes coiled around it.

"I have to admit. It's beautiful."

"Take it. And don't be ashamed of who you are." Mum whispered and clasped the necklace around my neck.

"I will, mother." I brought her into another hug. "See you soon."

"Be safe." She let go of me and did the same thing with Draco.

"Are you done?"

Mum kissed Draco's forehead one last time, and she pushed him off towards me.

I grabbed his arm and his suitcase. "Bye, mother."

I gave mum a meaningful look just as the Portkey began working it's magic. "You can't get rid of us that easily."

And we left the place I had never called home in a long time.
