Elsie Mae's POV
"Attention everyone!" Miss Eliza's kind voice rang through the room. I jumped up from playing dolls with two of the little girls then grabbed their hands and we walked over to her. "I just wanted to let you know that two very good friends of mine are coming to adopt one of you tomorrow."
Of course they are, I thought to myself. You might think I'm stupid for not being excited about the possibility of being adopted. I already know for a fact that no one will ever adopt me. Everyone wants to adopt a younger child, not a 15 year old. One of the small girls, Evelyn, squeezed my hand lightly to get my attention. I looked down at her and she looked up at me with her big blue eyes. "Elsie, do you think I'm gonna get adopted?" She asked me. I smiled and picked her up.
"Of course I do. Who wouldn't want the cutest little five year old out there?" I replied smiling. She hugged me tight.
"Okay, children. Time to get ready for bed." Miss Eliza said. Since I am the oldest child here, I help her get the little ones ready for bed.
"Elsie! Help!" I giggled when I saw little Evelyn struggling to get her nightgown on. I rushed over to her and helped her put her head through the hole. She giggled and hopped into my arms. I carried her over to her small bed and gently laid her down. More of the little kids began climbing into their beds, waiting for me to tuck each one in.
"Elsie Mae, is it story time?" A six year old boy named Tommy asked as he climbed into my lap. I nodded. I tell the children a bedtime story every night.
"What kind of story would you like to hear tonight?" I asked the children.
"Can you tell us a story about a orphan that gets adopted by Miss Eliza's friends?" A shy little girl named Ava asked yawning.
"Yeah!" All of the kids said in pleading voices. Tommy looked up at me with his big brown eyes and smiled widely. I can tell that they are all excited to see who is going to be adopted tomorrow.
"Okay. Once upon a time...."

Eliza's POV
As I walked past the children's door, I heard Elsie Mae telling the children a bedtime story. She has been such a big help to me in the orphanage and all of the children love her. I do pity her though. Whenever people come to adopt, they usually don't pay much attention to her because she is much older than the rest of the children. She seems like a little mother to me. She loves these kids with her whole heart and never lets anything happen to them. I smiled as I laid down in bed and fell asleep thinking how lucky I am to take care of so many amazing children including Elsie Mae.

Elsie Mae's POV
"The end." I said smiling. I looked in my arms and saw a sleeping Tommy. I slowly stood up and placed him in his bed. I pulled the covers over him and pushed his hair back.
"Goodnight children." I said quietly. A chorus of "Goodnight Elsie Mae" came from the children as I made my way to my bed. I pulled the ribbon out of my hair and let my brown hair fall down my back. I crawled into my bed thinking about tomorrow and how I will have one less kid to take care of. I'm going to miss whoever gets adopted. These children mean the world to me. Before I knew it I was sound asleep.
